Gamefreak were kind enough to give us an Ice-type on the first island in SM. Sadly it was Delibird, who has horrible stats and doesn't learn any Ice moves until Poni Island.

Turtonator and Drampa are counterparts in Sun and Moon but you can get Turtonator in the middle of the third island and can't get Drampa until Victory Road. There are no new Dragon-types you can get in Moon before you can go to Poni Island, even though you can get one in Sun thanks to Turtonator.

Technically it's more evolvability than availability, but Crabrawler should have been able to evolve into Crabominable in earlier parts of the game with Ice Stone or something, that way people wouldn't have to abandon their Crabrawler early on..

Certain pokemon like pseudos shouldn't be available too early in the game. Their high stats will be an issue when I comes to balance. That being said, Deino and Zweillous should not be available so late. I think maybe around 6th or 7th gyms should you be able to catch pesudos

Also Oricorio with Acrobatics is surprisingly legit early on. It's one of those Pokemon that's terrible on paper but works pretty well in practice.

Those pokemon are pretty bad in early stages of the game. Sure they get good later, but for example, larvitar and pupitar are objectively shit compared to other pokemon.
Also, they evolve so late
Its like "why cant i have rufflet earlier in the game!" when it fucking evolves in 55, its useless otherwise.

Rufflet is actually pretty interesting. It absolutely fucking dominates for a good long while before it starts getting outclassed by final forms.
For the first half of the game it's absolutely ridiculous though.

When i played BW with cheats (and with cheats i mean the "capture x pokemon early that feels like belong there but you get it too late" cheat), rufflet was a beast for like 2 gyms, then he dropped pretty hard.
Also, hard to level up since he was pretty squishy.
Once he became a Braviary he became a fucking beast though.
