What went so right?
ORAS APPRECIATION THREAD
nothing

Delicious Haruka armpits
>>32413463
I liked secret bases, dexnav and that one puddle/pond.
>>32413474
>Haruka
>>32413463
The games are set in Hoenn, and despite several nerfs it's still the region with the best level design and map layouts.
Beat these games 7 times. Enjoyed the hell out of it
It's base on the best region so it's already a step up from the previous remakes. I liked the Megas, but I wish Primal evo counted as Mega because the game became retarded with them.
>Secret Bases
>Better character developement
>Pokenav Plus is the best use of a DS/3DS touch screen for main series Pokemon games
>Music
>Soaring
>Sharpedo Surf
>Rayquaza vs Deoxys in Delta Episode plus Zinnia's battle theme
>May's glorious redesign
Pretty good remakes, lad.
>>32413492
>not wanting to fap to May's armpits
>>32413463
New megas were prettty good desu
>>32413463
My favourite pokemon games. I just wish they took the battle circles out this gen instead of next.
>>32413463
Good thread, OP. ORAS is very underrated here.
>>32413526
>Secret Bases
I hate the fucking homeless pedophile that teaches you about them.
>>32413463
GOAT bottom screen features, something Sun and Moon should have used.
>>32414730
I hate that he was given a Flygon and there is no Mega Flygon.
Still best remakes, though.
>>32413526
>May's redesign
>glorious
You're not serious are you?
>>32414757
This. And festival plaza is stupid, I like the online setup better in ORAS and XY.
>>32413526
>May's
>glorious redesign
such bad taste shouldn't be allowed
>>32413463
I'm going to say it again: /vp/ will never acknowledge that these games were actually good because of the frontier meme
Soaring Dreams!

Postgame
99% of all the criticism that ORAS recieves are insignificant nitpicks.
>>32415059
Well, except for Battle Frontier.
But you have the Battle Maison, so it's at least replaced.
My only nitpicks:
1. I wish soaring didn't make you have to sit through that mega transformation for Lati@s every single time.
2. I wish Brendan and May kept their original designs.
3. Having the Wally rematches locked behind the maison was a terrible idea.
>>32415059
>Battle Frontier, Gym rematches, updated Gym teams from Emerald, Berry Blending mini-game, Sly Pillar, number of Trick House puzzles
>nitpicks
>>32413463
Let's see here
>Dexnav
>region looks nice
>Hoenn is still a fantastic region regardless of some location tweaks
>megas to some mons that really needed it (and some that didn't of course)
>gen 6 move tutors
>lots of legends to catch I guess
>some remixed tracks are nice
>Primals are neat
>mega fug and mega fug episode
>>32415091
Yeah, it is replced by.Battle Maison (adding triple and rotation which Emerald lacked).
>>32415142
Sly Pillar?
Is an improvement in every way
>>32413463
dexnav was a great addition that made actually trying to fill out the dex (and getting good IVs and HAs) fun and accessible, and was a much better use of bottom screen than the rotom dex or XYs dedicated Pokemon Amie button
>>32415106
1.) Understandable
2.) Meh, I like both their designs personally
3.) Agreed
>>32414914
>>32414820
>Makes fun of someone who likes May's redesign
>Proceeds to post May's vomit inducing green and orange Emerald outfit
I agree, you should be banned from /vp/ until you improve your horrific taste.
>>32415142
>number of Trick House puzzles
I didn't realize they reduced them.
>>32415150
That's actually a good point, especially considering Sun/Moon didn't have either of them.
>>32415253
Exactly.
>>32415142
>Battle Frontier
The game is not called Delta Emerald
>Gym rematches
Replaced with the ability to create our customized gym, and form our grunt team. Which is much better.
>updated Gym roster from Emerald
Nitpick
>Sky Pillar
Made bigger and better in ORAS, with more hidden places to find. Fixing the floor is not a negative, btw.
>Berry Blending minigame
Replaced with a comfy portable berry blender. Also Amie offers more and better minigames, not present in RSE
>>32413463
• New content
• Major renovation of old issues with the original games (something HGSS failed to do)
• Excellent new and improved features based off of features from the originals
• Incredible ease of use of online features, breeding and training
• Most importantly, NEW POKEMON. Tons of entirely new forms to use and build around to an extent none of the other remakes have even tried.
By far the most successful remakes in the franchise and probably the best games overall so far. Here's hoping the next entries in gen 7 can unseat them!
t. anon who started with gen 1 and has thoroughly played every generation
>>32415310
Route 120 is amazing.
getting omega ruby along with a crystal red 2ds very soon, how much nostalgia fap am i in for?
>>32414730
>>32414776
>my signature pokemon is Flygon
>if you get to platinum, I'll give you something special
>you got: Garchompite
he's the last slap on the face of flygonbros
It was great. I just wish they had customization in it.
>>32413463
Should I buy this game? I was waiting for it to go to 25$ but it's at 27$ so I might finally buy it.
>>32415106
>3. Having the Wally rematches locked behind the maison was a terrible idea.
>the cool theme plays for the dialogue
>the shitty regular battle theme plays for the battle
REEEEEEEEEEEE
>>32415106
1. That's a loading screen, but I agree it's not really necessary to have it every time when megas only need one loading screen per time you play the 3DS.
2. Nah, I like their new designs.
3. Agreed. It also sucks his theme doesn't play in that battle.
And if I may add a nitpick myself:
4. No gym leader rematches. I already disliked the gym leaders were in the original's PokéNav, no need to do that again.
>>32413463
They gave treecko a good grass move before level 29, at the very least.
>>32415621
You realise soaring has to load in the entire map right?
>>32415628
I realized that after I wrote it down, yeah.
>>32415512
I love trainer customization myself, but I am glad they didn't put it in a remake like ORAS. It just doesn't fit with nostalgia...
I hope.they don't put it in DP remakes either, but I think they probably will due to popular demand.
Best remake. And one of the 3 best games, with Emerald amd BW2.
>>32413463
Its pretty fun and has a great gameplay quality. OST Is amazing. I really like those games. I dont care about not BF I didn't really use it in emerald.
>>32415230
>green and orange
>vomit inducing
I'll fight you, punk.
>>32415458
Pretty good one, DESU.
Tip, though. Turn off the EXP share and only turn it on when you need to grind.
>>32413480
>dexnav
That's it. That's the only thing they did right.
>>32415054
>make it appear it has a post-game by stretching out every step of the post-game as checks
>>32414956
full happiness
>>32415303
HGSS added content from Crystal. Criticizing the lack of Emerald content in ORAS is fair.
>>32413463
I know this is an unpopular opinion but I actually enjoyed the Delta Episode.
Literally only the graphics
>>32413463
I'm trying to get a new apperication for ORAS so I'm planning to do another playthrough. I always do at least two playthroughs of eveyr generational game. Tell me how I should play.
>>32415054
>Capture Regis
>Capture Additional In-Game Legends
>collect megastones
>complete pokemon contests
>mr bonding
>event mons
>trick house
>capture the flag
>elegant items
None of these are postgame.
>>32415151
>turning it into an Exposition Climb is an improvement.
I forgot that Gamefreak not caters to the instant gratification audience. God Forbid you actually have to put in a tiny bit of effort to obtain your Legendary Pokemon.
SEA MAUVILLE
Dat atmosphere and backstory and whole area in general was cool as fuck.
it had x and y's multiplayer and secret bases were nice to have back
that's it, really
>>32416402
Outside of Suicune stuff, what did it add?
>>32417581
They're better than postgame, they're side content that you can take to the E4. Far better than lifeless empty Kanto in HGSS.
>>32416332
>tasteless
>>32417581
Half of these are present in all games and the last two aren't even memorable gimmicks. Nice try.
>>32419179
Only one is present in other games anon.
>>32416201
night-night anon!
>>32418114
This. Arguably the most underappreciated aspect of ORAS, and this is coming from someone who values gameplay over story.
>>32416413
Maybe it's an unpopular opinion on /vp/ (and even then the people that hate it here could just be a handful of shitposters) but I wouldn't be surprised if out of the 13 million or so people that bought ORAS, more than half of them enjoyed the Delta Episode.
>>32415887
Although I would replace B2W2 with Platinum, you got some pretty good taste there anon.
