And yes, I know you were probably going for the regular shiny golden yellow -- I'd still desaturate it though. I tried it and it came out pretty nice -- it makes the green and pink stand out more.

Here we go, desaturated the gold. Also, the mixed tail feather colours were to do with the lighting of the sprite, I'd imagine, since the colours were mixed in the non-shiny sprite.

Looks much better.

I wouldn't be entirely sure re:lighting. While I'd like to believe that the color scheme was finalized by Gen 2, there does exist some early Sugimori art where the tail feathers are mixed -- most notably in the artwork which the sprite is similar in pose to. Plus, there's some pink on the bottom right feather which would indicate a shadow and that the white is the true color.

Regardless, nice work.

To me, the glow of the shell is the magma's glow, not fire glow. Since the magma is a purple-blue, I made the glow a similar colour.

As I was digging though old files, I came across this from one of those "make new Pokemon look old" and "old Pokemon look new" threads from last year.

It's a newer-gen Suicune with darker, more vivid colors. Ribbons inspired by the color of Amaura/Aurorus' sails, since Suicune is known as the Aurora Pokemon.

Did the best I could with the sprite colors -- I think the odd shade of yellow was used in place of a lighter, near tan color (ala Gyarados in the same sprite set) as Dratini has a tan underbelly in Gen III sprites. I was close to using that but I figured you wanted the yellow since it's so much more out of the ordinary.

If not, of course, I can use a less saturated yellow.

My point re:the color of the sprite is that pic related is the only Dratini sprite from Crystal I could find, and the blue is obviously a different shade that the version you posted.

I know that Dragonair doesn't keep the yellow, but in the Gen III sprites, Dratini has a tan underbelly. The yellow used in the GSC sprites is similar to the yellow used in the Gyarados GSC sprites, so I'm assuming that Dratini was meant to have a tan underbelly and was only yellow due to hardware limitations. I guess my point was that I didn't know if you wanted the TRUE color (yellow), or the IMPLIED color (tan). Either way, I'm glad you're happy with it!

"SM Style" (or Generation 7) shinies are different from the previous generations. It seems that in most cases, at least a certain part or parts of the Pokémon's colour is left unchanged. It's definitely an interesting style.

The design of the line is a sort of pun lost in foreign translation: Crabrawler always aims for the top because he's a boxer and he's very competitive by nature, but they take it literally so they seek high places and wander on mountains in the process.

The yeti theme is there and there's a reason for it, you may not like it or think it's too far fetched or poorly executed, but it's indeed there.
That redesign is terrible because it throws it all away in an attempt to give it a generic "cool" design, while taking away what makes it unique.

Yes, those are present on CRABOMINABLE. The yeti theme is obvious with the evolution. I said there weren't hints in the design on Crawbrawler.

It can still aim for the top and become lost on a mountain and evolve into an ice type...and the design still has elements of a yeti (white fur, large arms). It takes away the breast plate and paws in favor of a less busy design.

I don't understand how they screwed up some shiny sprites, or even how they can't decide on a colour scheme for a Pokémon (see sprites of Wartortle or Gligar). Garchomp's shiny is awful, but at least its shiny version was better I posted an edit for Garchomp earlier, somewhat bearing resemblence to Gabite's shiny.
