The worst part is that GameFreak doesn't even realize WHY they're selling as well as they are. They've never marketed new Pokémon games internationally they was they have with XY, ORAS and SM before, and yet they don't even THINK about questioning whether it's actually said marketing that boosting the sales and not the extreme amount of shill they pump the games full of in replacement of actual content.

The character and Pokemon models can be resuable, but what about the environment? They've still got to put more effort into that than what they did with Gens IV and V and their relatively low-poly low-res overworlds in comparison.

But yeah, Game Freak are definitely a hackjob circus troupe. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we got Gen VIII next year or the year after, and double points if it ends up being more barebones than SM.

Doesn't S/M have a total of like four hours of unskippable cutscenes and dialogue?

I like how when I play Blue on virtual console it takes me three minutes to deliver Oaks parcel and I'm good to go but S/M has a three hour long railroading tutorial. I will never ever replay S/M for that reason and anyone who can stand to is insane. I really enjoyed the games too, I'm not even saying they are bad. But fuck replaying them.

I enjoyed it on my second playthrough as well, so I guess I'm insane. I bought the second version and played through it again, and knowing beforehand what was going to happen, the importance of certain events and dialogue, as well as already liking the characters from the beginning made it just as fun to watch the cutscenes the second time.

but honestly, i think it was better off this way and i'd love if they could integrate it more naturally. it's the first time the characters have felt really developed and less like not caricatures but... nothing? previous generations it was just memefodder and lines that didn't really endear me, if any. it was a real waste of character creation to not actually do something with them and give them personality AND characterization.

overall i didn't like the game and this was the only aspect i enjoyed (i didn't much care for the overall gameplay and lbr poffins and puffs will top beans, how lame). idk it feels like the hgss of the current system/era and hopefully that means the next game will have a lot more going on.

And yes, I know you aren't baiting. SM were genuinely fun games. Seeing them get the recognition they deserve is nice. Pokemon gameplay was never anything special. The world was the most interesting part. SM fleshed out that aspect and built the most alive Pokemon world yet.
