With a choice scarf it outspeeds a shitton of things and still hits like a truck. It has only one weakness and the bulk to withstand non-STAB fighting moves fairly easily. You can do Bulk Up/Slack Off and leftovers as well.

It also has a non-terrible SpA stat so you could go mixed if you want to go all Verlisfy. It has access to BoltBeam for great coverage, but you're probably better off with the elemental punches instead.

Yes, but not top-tier. It would have a niche as a blanket Band/Scarf revenge killer, but keep in mind that Kyurem-Black hits harder, is only a bit slower, and has at least similarly bad typing. It would have a niche over Kyurem for that speed, being less bothered by faries, and having a bulkier slack-off set at its disposal for preview mind-games.

If it got something moderately useful, like Inner Focus, Thick Fat, or something, it might see top-tier use, but wouldn't be defining.

If it got something genuinely good, but not hideously broken like Stamina or Guts it would be defining.

Keep in mind that Kyurem-B is held back by his lack of stab moves and poor physical moveset in general. Slaking has return for stab, earthquake, play rough, gunk shot, and elemental punches, as well as more bulk, 100 speed, and only one weakness, vs Kyurem's 5 including stealth rock.

What about Stall as an ability? not nearly as nerfing as truant but makes sure he doesn't become broken

No Ability Slaking and Regigigas aren't top-tier OU anymore. They aren't broken in the slightest. Heck, raw statbrick like that might (no guarantees) go a way to breaking the spammy monotony of the currant meta.

We have seen quite the power creep the last two gens that he would not be broken if truant was gotten rid of.

Would an item that suppresses the user's ability save Slaking? Slaking would lose Truant, but in return effectively have no ability or item. Vulnerable to Knock off too.
