Do you usually give nicknames to your pokemon? What kind of names?
Yeah. Usually dumb easy jokes like Slakoth = Bread.

The only Pokémon I've ever nicknamed were my shiny Haxorus from BW2 which I named Blackxorus for those games only, then renamed it back before transferring it to PokéBank, and Nebby.
I used to nickname my competitive mons, but now just nickname only that I catch for the main story.
I always nickname my Pokemon, Mainly for emotional attachment and greater satisfaction when accomplishing something in game.
>>32408034
Yea only my competetive mons. All favorite anime characters or game characters.
>>32409012
Imposter ditto named ginyu
>>32409021
TOKUSENTAI
Vidya/animanga references.
Caught a Deoxys named Y.V., and an Abomasnow named W. Album.
>>32408034
>nicknamed my Vikavolt "43"
>battle against my best friend
>"43 used Agility!"
>with two Agilities it outsped my friend's team and won the battle only with it and Kommo-o left
And /vp/ said that 43 is useless.

I nickname my team, but not legendaries.
i used to but i'd spend 5 minutes or so after catching a pokemon trying to think of a nickname that i'd grow sick of after a while so in the end i just stopped
>>32408034
I named the Rufflets and Braviarys that I caught in the Alola after US warships that were station in Pearl Harbor.
I nickname everything i catch. But for my team members i try to at least give them fitting names or at least names that won't cause cringe.

Each generation there will be a:
Tauros named Smashy
A fire type named Aki
A Pseudo Legendary named Rampage
A female Kingdra named Queendra
A Skuropi/Drapion named Scorponok
A Beedrill named Sting
A normal/flying bird named Compass
I don't necessarily use these pokemon, but I like having them in my box.
I bring them over from the previous generation and have them make a new mon. I still have their parents/grandparents, etc. but I raise the newborn to represent the current game.
I usually name my Pokemon after cute sounding food

>I bring them over from the previous generation and have them make a new mon. I still have their parents/grandparents, etc. but I raise the newborn to represent the current game.
That's autistic.I like it.
>>32408034
Yep. Dumb names mostly.
>>32408034
Just few ones like:
Zangooze is Kratos, always.Funny part is that i never had the game, a ps2/3/4; and also my PC don't run it.
>>32409446
That's a lot of electric types.
>>32408034
I sometimes nickname my Pokémon. It depends if I can think of something cool and unique sounding. I will never be so cliche and call a fire Pokemon "blaze" or "flare." I'll also never be a wanker and nickname them human names like Steve or Jason.
I like to be creative and thoughtful about it
I'm a jojofag, so I name all my Mons musically.
>>32409827
yeah but they're cute
I name everything in game something weird and random as long as it's not a legendary, but in Showdown I keep it the same
>>32408045
what was your luvdisc's nickname?
I nickname any Pokemon I'm gonna use / care about, logic is not always involved. I have a Garchomp named Quinn because I was watching Daria when I was training it, and an A-Ninetales named Tanqueray because I was drinking gin & trying to hatch a perfect one.
My favorites are a pair: a shiny and a regular Bewear named Funshine and Love-a-Lot, respectively.
>>32409275
>A female Kingdra named Queendra
Are you me?
The only clever nickname I have is Zephiel for Nidokings...
>>32408034
I autistically name almost every single mon I come across.
It's actually annoying when I try and trade them though, and I get all of the "no name" requests (which has made me lose quite a few GTS trades because I go out to try and catch one to give it its default name but when I come back it's already traded)
>>32410464
I just think it makes sense. I also call female mr mimes ms.mime
>>32410476
>Zephiel for Nidokings
>Clever
Literaly Who?(or what, not sure)
I nickname anything that stays in my party for a decent amount of time, HM slaves, placeholders/gym advantages, etc. I like to give them unique nicknames, and I really like nicknames with multiple words so I'll try to have one of those each playthrough. My last Totodile was named Cpt.Chomp, my current HM slave Zigzagoon is named METHADDICT, that sort of thing
someone's probably gonna fixate on this but personally I like the nicknames I come up with stoned the best
donut
Depends. Sometimes it's a weeb reference, sometimes it's a joke name, sometimes it's something straight up stupid (named my Dhelmise Japan because lol it kills whales and my Mudbray Hores because whores+horse and she was a female)
>>32410588
He's that guy from Fire Emblem 7 that needed to be king.
I change their nicknames if their species name doesn't fit their sex (e.g. Slowqueen, Queenler, Mrs. Mime).
Other than that, I only ever use pun-based nicknames (Facepalm the Exeggutor, Brutehoot the Decidueye, Pebbledaesh the Alolan Golem, etc.)
>>32408034
Yeah. Depends on the Pokemon. Sometimes it's mythologically or scientifically themed, other times it's something cutesy.
I have an Ampharos named Ohm, for instance.
I either have a naming theme (certain anime/manga/game/album), or just name them stupid shit (like a gardevior named "(male)" or something like that)
>>32408034
I always name my team. Normally when i play i have some theme like my sun playthrough i predominantly named them after songs i like, or reference something if it's spot on.
>>32408034
I tried nicknames a couple of times. Never works out for me. I play during long stretches of time so a nickname I like now I'll probably hate in a couple of months.
This is Brianna, my tranny rabbit. I named it after Brianna Wu.
