What are YOU talking about? They're completed different characters, not just in personality and background, but even in their way of talking and habits. Game Lillie referred to herself with "watashi" and added "-san" at the end of everyone's name, even referring to Pokemon as Pokemon-san. She even used "-sama" for Lusamine and Gladion. Anime Lillie talks like a rich girl, referring to herself with "watakushi" and doesn't use honorifics for anyone, even Gladion.
They really do share zero similarities. It's a surprise they kept her name same, because she's just an original character at this point.

On this part, actually. Can you elaborate? Because, by game mechanics, even a single hit from a normal Arm Thrust can OHKO Pikachu with Belly Drum. With 5 hits, it can do up to 900 damage. With All-Out Pummeling, it can go up to 1200 damage. That is assuming they're the same level, which they won't be.

Now, I know, it's the games. Anime works differently. But as the other anon pointed out, Hala still had decades of training, while Ash has been training for less than a year, apparently. How is this even remotely fair? How do you justify this? Power of friendship made Pikachu that much stronger? Then Hala probably hated his Pokemon, right?

The holding back bullshit makes the most sense, and that's actually a sad thing. Because that entire scenario doesn't make sense. Why would someone so strong even be in a position that requires you to lose. There's also the Kukui comment specifically stating Hala isn't holding back. But even then, holding back thing makes more sense, than the battle being a fair battle.
