Muk - Unresisted type combo; Good bulk, OK attack, Gluttony & pinch berries healing half; 1 weaknes good special def.

Marowak - Thick Club; Fire/Ghost type is meta in lore and great offensively and definsively. Lightningrod is a good metagame ability and Rock head is good for recoil-less FB.

Having less weaknesses is usually better than having more resistances on a tanky Pokemon. It's usually walls that want resistances, because their job is to take as little damage as possible. A tank's job is just to cause as much damage as possible before it goes down.

Pain Split doesn't seem that useful since they usually run Assault Vest.

If you wanna go for muk in doubles just run
pjab knock off protect + tech move of choice (shadow sneak / curse / imprison / whatever)
with gluttony + 50% berry
just run your own calcs for the EV spread depending on your team
pain split is uselss in doubles

I'm just sad because the stats are still really bad. Alolan Marowak is good for meta reasons, so if the meta shifts it'll get dumped on again for being slow.

ghost/fire with potential electric immunity is pretty solid typing though.
Candelure is UU and it's frailer and doesn't hit as hard a A-Marowak
