fucking what, how were these games bad in anyway? sure the game is pretty slow but it has great mons, an amazing OST and a decent story. if anything black and white (the first one) was the game that almost made me drop pokemon. black and white 2 however is a different story

The wait between third gen and fourth was brutal. It's weird to think how much the internet has changed in the past ten years too. A lot of people did - it helps explain why there was such a drop from gen 4 sales to gen v. obviously it's also that there were a lot of little kids who ONLY had these as their Pokémon games, but it does show that a lot of people didn't pick up gen v because gen iv didn't succesfully hook them, at least.

Gen V got a huge drop in sales because they forced you into catching new pokemon without allowing for older mons until the postgame, especially when so many of them were just rehashes of Kanto mons and heavily criticised in the lead up to their release.

But that's my favorite part of gen 5. The Pokemon looked better than gen 4 so I actually liked using them, I was no longer mystified by old gen Pokemon being thousands of miles from their home, and it overall made the game feel so much more refreshing to play.
Why would I want the same team 5 times in a row? That anon might be exaggerating that gen 4 caused a drop in audience, but I actually almost quit Pokemon at gen 4s's reveal because I hated the starters and by release didn't like 6 Pokemon. Ugliest gen by far. Worst Eevees, worst starters, worst legendaries.
