Looks bad in that animation, but it isn't ugly in general. One of the best gen 1 Pokemon, and probably my favorite Pokemon in general, tied with Shedinja and Golisopod.

It's kinda cute.

Besides the stock g1 eyes, i think its pretty good. The armored body and proportions made it stand out quite a lot in the old games.

Relicanth isn't a rock type because he's a prehistoric pokemon. He's a prehistoric pokemon that just happens to have always been a rock type. That's the point of the pokemon, it hasn't changed for millions of years. He has always meant to be a Water/Rock type. Kind of like Bastiodon, who I'm pretty sure was part rock even before it got fossilized (Cant prove it though.)
