Think of plain flying type as wind. Thats why they add normal to most birds, so fighting is regular against normal ass birbs. And its not very effective against wind, or special birds

Flying types should not be resistant to fighting type attacks. If anything they should be immune. They should be immune to contact attacks in general if we're using the logic "lol they can fly." Mach punch still hits the bird like normal.
