Love. Depression. Obsession.

She was a normal women. Nothing more than that. She loved her family as much as anyone would. But when one of her family, her husband, just disappeared, she couldn't take it. She didn't even know if he was dead or alive, what happened to him. He just disappeared. Depressed, she devoted all her time to finding him. The only clue she had was that he was researching an alternate dimension, so she picked that research up in hopes of finding him. The insane amount of time she devoted to them and her desperation to find her love, slowly lead her subconsciously replacing her husband with Ultra Beasts as the object of her love.

She herself mistook her devotion as love, and it slowly grew into obsession over the span of years. Because she couldn't find Ultra Beasts themselves, the obsession grew from being just about Ultra Beasts, to everything beautiful. And her indention of "beauty" was a bit fucked up. It wasn't about appearance. Only Ultra Beasts were beautiful in appearance. Because she had failed to get results, because things weren't going her way, she found things that did do exactly what she wanted to be beautiful. Anything she controls is beautiful and deserves her love, everything else doesn't.

This is just the backstory. The actual game is still there, you can play and see her there for yourself. This level of complexity is almost NEVER found in villains. Not only that, there is not a single "random" trait she has. Her past and the events she went through define her, like any real person. Her personality is a direct result of that past. She is often accused of being Ragyo ripoff, but she shits all over Ragyo, who was just a random maniac. Simply put, she is a great villain, one who easily shits on most villains in general. No Pokemon villain even comes close to her.

Giovanni is realistic, but boring. What's really stupid is that no one gives a fuck about him but you and a few cops so it's more like Kanto in general is missing something. Johto helps this a bit in that Lance fucks over Team Rocket.

Ghetsis is probably the most threatening and realistic in the sense of what he's doing. Persuading everyone to let go of their power and then controlling the region from the shadows is pretty okay. He's worse, though still threatening, in B2W2.

Archie and Maxie are both shit, though they don't intentionally fuck over the world. They're still retarded however.

What I mean is that what he's doing will probably kill you. The lake bombs were pretty good too, imo. He's still insane though.

N never does anything evil though. He battles you, defeats gym leaders and Alder, and captures/releases Pokemon. His intentions are stupid based on how the Pokemon world functions, but it's mostly his team that does the evil shit.

Definitely agree. The Lake Bomb was a miss for me, even a negative, because of how the situation was handled. A bomb was set off in a place full of people, and no one did anything, not the Gym Leaders, not the Champion, and not even the International Police, who knew about it. The rest, though, was great. How he kidnapped the Lake Trio, used them to summon Dialga and Palkia. What makes Cyrus for me, though, is definitely Platinum and Giratina. That whole part was pretty fucking cool.

His viewpoint makes perfect sense, but only if you look at the Pokemon world with edgelord glasses on, cherry picking all the bad people have done to Pokemon.
If the Pokemon world were grey, like he seems to believe, then yeah he would be totally right. But the game itself hammers it into your head that Pokemon are better off with people, and N only thinks the way he does because a crazy old sociopath manipulated him into thinking that way. Pokemon, no matter how philosophical it tries to get is still a children's game in a world of black and white morality.

It's the same thing with Lusamine bringing up the moral ambiguity of the player boxing their Pokemon. Well, normally she would have a point. Except Game Freak made sure to add Pelago, so now there isn't any real dilemma anymore.
