>learns Shell Smash
What happens now?
They don't learn Shell Smash
Give it toCROtoo
They smash their shells
>>32369733
DoesCROhave a shell to smash?
>>32369756It's a comedy relief, Like the ones in the photo

Jobber, Whaever
All of them will receive significant buffs to rise to RU-UU, in chespin's case, maybe even BL.
However turtwig is just too slow for shell smash. It won't help.

M-Blastoise wouldn't be BL or OU? Or would 4MSS prevent it from being a top threat?
>>32370416
M-Blastoise might actually make it to OU. It'd be OU for sure with Shell Smash andOrigin Pulse.
>>32369835
>4x flying weakness
It would just be mid UU at best with Shell Smash.
>>32370524
> Chesnaught used Continental Crush!
>>32370524
>no Flying-type priority users now that Gale Wings got clipped
>Adamant Chesnaught hits 454 Speed at +2, outpacing Mega Aerodactyl (tier's fastest Flying-type) and OHKOes with Wood Hammer (Drain Punch too after SR damage)
>Also has Stone Edge; most likely set would be Shell Smash/Wood Hammer/Drain Punch/Stone Edge
Why does a Flying weakness hold it back?
>>32370524
>flying
>relevant
pick one
>>32369835
Chesnaught is shit now, even in RU. It has no business as an offensive mon, so nah
>>32369711
Weird. All are starters I chose.
>learns Electrify through breeding
What happens next?
>>32370945
>Shell Smasher that literally sets up for free on Landorus-T
>not great
>>32369711
M-Blastoise joins his pals in OU, the rest becomes top threaths in their own tiers and maybe rise by one, Chesnaught may even become OU material as well since brave birb is kill and Psychic Terrain counters priority anyway.
>>32369711
mega Blastoise mind UU
Samurott RU
Torterra UU
bulkier chesnaut still be better
>>32373070
It's useless on Chesnaught because there's better Shell Smash users.
>>32373117
Name one.

Everything in there.
>>32372978
It becomes a good supportmon in Doubles.
>>32373142
Literally none of those would be a better Shell Smasher than Chesnaught. All are frailer, most are slower and many are weaker.
>>32369711
>Chesnaught, an armored fighter, breaking apart its armor to become fast and strong at the cost of defense
Made me think of Louis.
>>32372978
Probably straight to ubers, with that 145 speed.
>>32370901
Supersonic skystrike banned Staraptor from UU and sent it to BL
shell smashing mega blastoise would be completely busted
>>32373173
Cloyster would still be better.
Mega Blastoise would be better, although arguably filling a different niche since it is a special attacker.
>>32369711
>Blastoise
mega to BL and base to UU
>Torterra
RU or BL2
>SamurottBL if not OU its coverage is fucking obscene
>Chesnaught
Easy OU.
>All these shitters saying M-Blastoise gonna be OU and UU
M-Blastoise with Shell Smash is straight up banned to ubers for eternity. That's a fucking monster with a solid speed and great bulk.
Let's take a look at some calcs:
>+2 252+ SpA Mega Launcher Blastoise-Mega Aura Sphere vs. 4 HP / 252 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 302-356 (47 - 55.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
>+2 252+ SpA Blastoise-Mega Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 16+ SpD Tapu Fini: 144-171 (41.9 - 49.8%) -- 28.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
>+2 252+ SpA Mega Launcher Blastoise-Mega Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 24 SpD Toxapex: 214-252 (70.3 - 82.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
>+2 252+ SpA Mega Launcher Blastoise-Mega Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 16+ SpD Mantine: 198-233 (52.9 - 62.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
>+2 252+ SpA Blastoise-Mega Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 238-282 (65.5 - 77.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
>+2 252+ SpA Blastoise-Mega Ice Beam vs. 240 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Goodra: 208-246 (54.5 - 64.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
>+2 252+ SpA Blastoise-Mega Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 289-342 (72.6 - 85.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
Literally every single special wall and tank are 2HKOed. Not a single safe switch.

Shell Smash is the most broken setup move in the game, what would happen if something really strong and bulky with no big weaknesses got it?
Most pokemon with access to SS are total shite otherwise
>>32372978
Smogon: We have decided to ban the item Sceptilnite from SM OU. With a blazing fast 145 speed, and with the new buff Mega Evolution turn order has received, Mega Sceptile can nulify any move an enemy throws at it. With a grand total of 8 Pokemon outspeeding it, as well as most of them being in the Uber tier, the only viable pokemon that outspeed it are Mega Alakazam and Mega Aerodactyl. One can say that priority like Ice Shard and Prankster Tauntcan shut down Electrify, but simply having a Tapu Lele or another Psychic Terrain user removes this tactic for about 5-8 turns, which gives Mega Sceptile enough time to set up and start a sweep.
When being forced to carry multiple priority/prankster users and a MegaZam/Megadactyl simply to deal with one pokemon, it is the very definition of overcentralization and Mega Sceptile is extremely unhealty to the meta game. This ban is effective starting immediately.
>>32370641
Well how the fuck do you get chesnaught at +2 if you're not running speed boosting moves on him?
Oh sure, my lillipup outruns deozys-s, if lillipup is +6 and deoxys-s is -6.
Fucking idiot.
>>32377578
What? Shell Smash boosts speed by two stages. It's literally the first move of the sample set I posted. Either a) you didn't properly read my post before making your reply, b) you don't even know what Shell Smash does.
Which is it, anon?
>learns Shell smash
What happens
>>32370641
To be fair you'd still have to make it survive for one turn without the setup.
>come back, X
>go Talonflame
>Chesnaught used Shell Smash
>Talonflame used Brave Birb [gale wings]
Of course that's situational because of Stealth Rock but that's just an example of what could still hold it back.

>>32377550

>>32377550

>>32378598
If there's a Talonflame on the opposing team, you don't Smash until Stealth Rock is down or the bird is damaged, simple as that. Shell Smash is to set up a sweep, and you don't sweep until the opposing team is sufficiently chunked that they can't stop you. This goes for any sweeper, really. You have to wear down its checks and counters before sweeping. Attempting a turn 1 sweep is dumb.
And Talonflame is really rare right now, so it doesn't hold Chesnaught back as much as Steel-types in general and Ferrothorn in particular can hold back Cloyster.

>>32380591
Mega Pinsir would probably be one of the few true counters to a Shell Smash Chesnaught.
Unless the Chesnaught has Stone Edge and a Mega Pinsir switch is predicted.
>>32369711
I don't think Turtwig would appreciate it very much.
