Reminder that real Pokemon fans call Pokemon by their Japanese names
>>32363774
But saying rowlet sounds a lot more easier.
Only weebshits do that.
>Here is my Dog
>His name is Dog

Not when they have names like "Showers", "Thunder", "ThunderS", "Freezer", and "Blacky".

cant be fucked to use jap names, though some english ones are stupid too. Emolga is Emonga in Japanese, why the fuck did they bother to change one letter?
>>32364007
It would be extremely painful.
>>32365055
>Junaipa
>Jnaipa
>Snaipa
>Sniper
>>32365035
Same with Shaymin. It's Japanese name is Sheimi. Could've just kept its Japanese name instead of making a small change.I prefer Shaymin's English name, though.
>>32365035
>Emolga is Emonga in Japanese
>Why?
Because Japanese people cannot pronounce L's. Seriously. They usually default to R sounds. So it could've been Emoruga too.
>>32363936
>Mr. Mime
>Yanma (literally "dragonfly" in Japanese
>Hariyama (literally just a sumo rank)
>Skorupi (weeaboo for Scorpi)
Sand
10/10, Whould japanese again
ihatethathedgehog is my favorite Pokemon!

It's Shaymin in Japan too.

There's lots of equally bad English names that people don't think of as bad because they're used to them.

Well here's a thing: They don't sound fucking dumb (Mr. Mime does but no one likes him anyway)

I guess you could say that the Japanese names are the "true" names, since that is what the original creators called them. But English Pokemon names are actually pretty damn clever a lot of the time, and at least to my inferior American ears, sound better than many of the Japanese names. That's why the Pokerap worked so well - (most of) those names were well thought out and clever.
>>32365137
Emonga is the original name you dumbass, and it comes from "momonga", the nip word for flying squirrel. "Emolga" doesn't mean or come from anything.
>>32366372
Most modern English Pokemon names are pretty straight localizations of the Japanese ones and pun on roughly the same thing.
Not always that well, "Inkay" is pretty clumsy and forced compared to "Maaiika", but most of them are pretty straight forward.
>>32366379
>you dumbass
Ah here Anon, that hurts my feelings over a small mistake. Why do you gotta be such a cunt?
>>32366557
Cunts get ahead in life. Dumbasses don't.
>>32363774
If you don't know your favorite Pokemon's name in Japanese then it's not truly your favorite.
>>32366567
If you don't know every Pokemon's name in Japanese then you're not truly a fan.
>>32366379
He's still right about the Japanese and L's though.

Guess why, e-mong.

>>32366590
>this Pokemon is named Emonga
>we can't call it that, let's change a random letter and turn the name into meaningless gibberish
>okay. By the way, what should we rename that sarcophagus Pokemon?
>>32363774
Fakku yeah, Lowret.
>>32363774
> Magmar (Japanese: ブーバー Boober)
>>32366633

>>32363774
The only pokemon I use its japanese name for is Gekkouga. I only vaguely remember the name Mokuroh because of the trademark leaks.
>>32366892
Why only Mokuroh and not Ashimari and Nyabby?
>>32366915
Mokuroh means "wood owl" and was used as proof that the scribble starters were real
>>32366892
I'm the same way with Mijumaru, up until recently I found it hard to call him Oshawott because I saw the Japanese name all over the place for months..
>>32366939
I wish we still got the Japanese names long before the English ones.
I've always hated this. There was a time when animefags were nothing but this. Some of them still are. No. I am not impressed, I don't care. Thank goodness for global releases and that I don't have to worry about that for the most part. (yes, I know it still exists even with that because the anime is the biggest idiocy on the face of the planet)
>>32366892
>I only vaguely remember the name Mokuroh because of the trademark leaks.
I feel somewhat similar about Tsutarja, because for a time that was all we had, but then everyone started calling it Smugleaf, and that name just burned itself into my mind. It will always be Smugleaf to me.
>>32366845
>looks like it's got a literal butthead
>it's actually tits
Figures.
>>32366967
>referring to characters in the game by the name they have in the game is good
>referring to characters in the anime by the name they have in the anime is bad
Astonishing display of logic there
Fun fact
Yanmega in Japanese is basically Mega Yanma, so a Mega Yanmega would basically be Mega Mega Yanma in Japananese
>>32367039
Most of them are based on the game characters. There is no excuse.
>>32367306
>they have one name in the game and another in the anime
>you have to use the name you read in the game a year ago when talking about the anime rather than the one you're audibly hearing right then and there
>>32367367
You'd have to either be an idiot or blind to not know who it is by sight alone. If the dialogue makes it unclear who is being referred to, you would have to know what the JP names are, but unless you are a weeaboo, there is no reason to not use the localized names if they exist when doing a translation or talking about it online. It's easier to just directly use the JP names? Maybe for translation purposes, but for discussion, people are going to use the name they are more familiar with. Unless you go to a community that strictly only uses Japanese names, the localized ones will be more familiar. The anime community has always been that way? You may have me there, but I do not recall a moment in either XY or SM where people referred to any of the game native characters by anything other than the localized names. COTD and anime unique characters, yes, they will always be deferred to by their JP names. Perhaps for all time because their dub names are often shitty.

Don't forget, Ghos and Ghost.
>>32363836
No, his name is Inu.
