Average design, not the best but not bad.

I'd like it more if the arms were suitably shorter and less like arms/more like flippers. They look awkward and floppy. The eyes are excellent and it has a very nice mermaid motif.

I don't really like it. Its design is ok, but I don't like its transition from a sort of male-like design of popplio to this very feminine design. The whole thing about it being 87.5% male also upsets me, but since all starters have it Iet it pass.

The thing with Popplio is that it's neutral looking, plain put. What happened here is, a lot of people didn't see its sudden change coming either. most early art of its final fake evolutions would either be of elegant/royal looking sea lions (obviously, none would ever reach Primarina in regards to how cutesy it would look), plenty of clown like evos and some more heavyweight conclusions. No one had seen its sudden slenderness coming and just rolled off with the natural thickness of a actual sea lion. At that time, there was also that whole type icon leak thing that affected a lot of art, where everyone assumed Popplio would become part Fighting.

I'm not entirely against Primarina's design as a whole, but in my honest opinion, the concept could have still be pulled off even if it had a more neutral approach to it.

And I, along with many others, are happy the way Primarina ended up being and would change nothing about it. Was it unexpected? Yeah, sure, but considering how most people were happy about it and how for every person that dislikes it you can find at least 5 that started liking the line as a whole (more) because of it, I'd say it pulled off the "unexpected/different evolution" as well as it possibly could. Compared to "it just gets bigger", it's an high risk high reward kind of situation, I guess, where it may disappoint some people but also impress a lot more the ones who like it.
I completely respect your opinion, although I don't have any problem with Primarina's slenderness at all, but who knows what would have happened if the evolution was more masculine, neutral, fat or more similar looking to Popplio? It basically saved the Sea Lion for being the most bullied starter ever, a lot of its fans are happy about it, so it's really hard to see a better evolution for the line, despite the changes it goes through.
I honestly can't see myself liking a starter line where the final evolution ends up being what I expect, so I hope this line of thinking continues in the future games, as long as it's pulled off well.

Pretty much this for me. I don't hate it, but I just see it as a girly seal. Can't really relate to idolshit I guess. On the other hand, I'm a huge wrestling fan and I also think Decidueye's ghost archer schtick is fucking cool.

As a waifumon I also prefer Tsareena much more.
