So, I'm making a GSC hack and I want every Pokemon in the game to have all of their evolutions, even those that came after GSC (like Electivire and Magmortar). In order to do that, I need to get rid of some already existing Pokemon.

Would people miss the babies? (Pichu, Smoochum, etc...) Also, Legendaries. What about trash mons? (Qwilfish, Dunsparce, etc...)

I'm thinking about getting rid of them because they are pretty pointless, but it just seems inconsistent.

I have an idea for the Poseidon Water trial of my project. I'm using Essentials.

Everything you've mentioned is possible. You'll basically be using several different duplicate maps, one with the whirlpools, currents, a calm waters one etc. You should not rely on events to change the water as that would be laggy.

For Polished Crystal I ended up adding most of the new evolutions. Various reasons for removing some others: most babies are useless; Delibird is gimmicky and I replaced Present with a better move anyway; not a fan of Lickitung and Aipom or their new evolutions; Spearow is redundant (could have removed Doduo instead); and so on.

Conveniently, the new ones that add underused types (Dark Weavile, Fairy Togekiss, Ghost Mismagius) are fairly popular. Magmortar and Rhyperior aren't, but Electivire is.

Remember, you can have 253 Pokémon, not 251. Egg, Cancel (for the PC menu), and Null each take up a slot.

The tiles used for most GSC route maps are the same in the vanilla game, so it's all about layout, unless you want to create custom tilesets (which is definitely doable, Polished Crystal does it). I feel like a good early-gen map is one that has a clear flow to it. You want the layout to be such that you, as a player, imagine what's actually going on in the map as you go through it. Route 45 and 46 always stood out to me in this regard. The entire map is one way and there are tons of ledges. It gives me the impression of the player hiking down a very steep mountain. As you get closer to the bottom things get a bit less steep, allowing for patches of grass, a small lake, and some berry trees close to the bottom. It's also a map that players are incentivized to run through multiple times due to there being trainers on different paths and the player being unable to battle them all at once in a single trip down the mountain.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, think about how your map works as an actual location in the region, not just how it is in a vacuum. Think "what would the area in this part of the region be like?" and then map it accordingly to try and imprint that design on the player. Little details like how the path from Ecruteak to Olivine becomes increasingly paved and neat the closer you get to the latter, since the latter is a port town with a lot of traffic, and a similar thing happening with the Route 35—a route between Johto's largest city (with a train connecting it to Kanto's largest city) and a major landmark and tourist attraction—help make a path stand out in the player's minds.

Beyond that, make sure at least part of a path is able to be viewed on the GBC's 10x9 screen no matter where the player goes on the route for better flow, use ledges to shape your routes, and if you have a river or sea near your route consider using bridges to point it out. Routes 12/13 and 32 both stand out as "near the ocean" maps to me due to the bridges.

3 stages evolution lines are the most fun so I'd defintely go with the gen 5 approach. Though cross-gen evolutions are fun too so maybe try to mix a few of those in as well. If it were up to me, single stages wouldn't exist at all.

I'm assuming your starting town is from the right and you move upward, due to the ledges.
I almost said the route had too much grass, but actually counting the number of mandatory tiles it doesn't seem too bad (the route has 20 grass tiles you have to walk through to get from bottom to top; Kanto Route 1 has 16, and Johto Route 29 has 24). The lake does seem far too big and scaling it down would help for gameplay purposes, nobody likes being on water for an overly long period of time even in actual sea routes, and going that far just for two hidden items seems like overkill.

This was the first song I ever ported to pokecrystal, and as you can see I just copied some things wholesale without fine tuning them. Even the labels on the music are taken from some other song, not sure what, which is why it's all stuff like "Music_WifiLobby_branch_f4fb1" (which was created via automation when they were building pokecrystal) instead of something more understandable like "Music_WifiLobby_Ch1_loop." It was very trial and error for me, but I'm sure having a pre-existing guide would make things easier for total newcomers who aren't the kind of autist dedicated enough to do that trial-and-error like me.

I'm trying to come up with a name for a city based on real life Slab City in California. The trailer park yard in Gta 5 for a region with musical town names. It's a town in the desert that's off the grid.
One of the evil teams based on hippies/resistance, freedom fighters make their base here. They use solar panels and shit.
What's a good name for it? Something that sounds off the grid? Like a beacon for people wanting to escape the sight of the oppressive system? How is the electrical grid numbered?

The "Magikarp" of the Ovra region is Dumeak, a Normal type, weak, goofy, but goodhearted rodent pokemon.
It isn't very bright nor is it strong. It's lovable in that it tries to find a niche in the forest, but always comes up short. It's a very lonely pokemon.
A legendary pixie pokemon called Symbios, a Fairy type pokemon that is known to inhabit the bodies of other pokemon to feed on their lifeforce whilst also drawing out their maximum potential.
As fate would have it, Symbios' perfect host is none other than Dumeak.
By leveling up Dumeak with Symbios in your party, Dumeak will undergo a drastic evolution as the two beings fuse together.
If Dumeak's attack is lower than its Sp.Attack, it evolves into Genios.

Review my fakémon. I know the sprites are shit, Im mostly looking for "this is cool because, this is shit because"

Bug line (unfinished). The Pokémon isn't actually the caterpillar, but the parasite inhabitting it, too. Is it too edgy? I really like the idea of a parasite taking over. It seems a bit too dark, though.

Cursepillar: Bug / ---. A simple caterpillar, but being controlled by a parasite or fungus. Does it look creepy enough? I purposely chose a simple Bugs movie caterpillar because it's childish enough. You can "cleanse" Cursepillar in various ways:
- Catching it with a Heal Ball
- Raising it's friendship high enough before it's normal level evolution
- Probably a particular item received from an NPC that researchs them, or something.
If any of these 3 above apply, Cursepillar doesn't evolve into Puprison but into something else I only have a vague idea about. Think Wurmple? Probably evolves a bit later than 7/10, maybe 10/15 to give the player some time to raise it's friendship. In exchange, it's not completely useless in terms of stats.

Puprison: Bug / ---. The parasite has completely taken over and the Cursepillar is no more. The body is meant to look like bandages over an actual pupa, but I'm not too good at spriting that so that's it for now. River crab line (unnamed): Yes it's another fighting crab line. Canon Pokémon don't appear in this game, so I'm choosing to make really similar designs to official Pokémon.
It's a crab. It has gloves. Water/Fighting. Bubble, Tickle, Doubleslap, Wake-up Slap, Dizzy Punch... It doesn't normally learn many punch attacks because I want it to stand out from other Fighting types. Ability probably boosts those shit moves, and maybe gets a signature move related to glove slapping.

(Unnamed) Corsola shitmon replacement but it's kind of a crab. Meant to be cute. Doesn't evolve. Water/Rock, Water/Grass or similar. Abilities might include Sap Sipper. "It loves sea weed so much it attaches them to it's body". Because of the sea weed, it might attract a predator that loves sea-weed too. Gotta think of my own in-universe rivalries.

Of course. "intensity $XX" is used to change volume for individual channels. Prism originally had all the types from Brown, and most of the types from Brown are shitty. It culled it to just Sound and Gas (and technically Prism-type but Prism-type isn't any more of a type than the ???-type since it only appears on one move and said move changes to a random type every time it's used), and I still think Gas is pretty dumb.
Sound is like the only type that they could officially add to the games and not seem dumb, but even that I'm wary of since it would require redoing a bunch of moves and removing the "sound" keyword that affects Substitute and the Soundproof ability from them, even though that makes some moves like Bug Buzz and Hyper Voice so useful.

Ah sorry. Was very tired at the time and misread it as Ground/Dragon. Bug/Dragon and Bug/Ground are both fitting types; my advice is to plan out the design first and then assign the type afterwards. If it ends up looking more like a traditional insect, go with Bug/Ground. If it ends up more like a terrifying kaiju bug, go with Bug/Dragon.

One could be ruthless, one could be charismatic, another could be the weasel (comedy relief character?), maybe a business-minded one, etc. with the leader being a fairly stereotypical crime boss.
Corrupted law-enforcement could play a part as well.

Basically a typical crime drama with Pokemon.

How is this looking? The town is called Sunset Bay and that area to the right is called Sunset Cape.

The lighthouse is where you get your first Pokemon. There's going to be a water route for later in the game below the bay that wraps up to the right of the cape.

No wild grass on the cape because you won't have your first Pokemon at that point. Route 1 will be through the route gate at the top.

Looks good but I think there's too much empty space on the strip of land with the lighthouse. Either making the lighthouse shorter or removing some of the trees and pushing it upward would help with that, I think. The water to the south also looks really wide, but you might add barriers to narrow it down that will make it fine later.

Because small towns are cozy, and the idea of being some small-town kid going off into the wide world is a romantic one. Big cities all suck. The reason Aspertia City breaks the norm and does it well is because it's the second game of a single reason with a new starting point and GF wanted it to stand out from Numeva Town (though southwest Unova still holds that feeling of seclusion due to being a small island and having pic related as a shot in the city).
Note how, even though there's a fuckhuge city twenty feet from you in Sun and Moon, you still start in a cozy-looking cabin with seemingly no houses around you when you start the game, to try and evoke that aforementioned feeling of some small-town kid going off into the wide world to make a name for themselves.

You're both wrong. The real reason it's always a small town is because it's hard to make a big city without having lots of things to do in it. It makes no sense to have loads of gimmicky shops/facilities and such when the player only has 1 (or no) Pokemon. Big cities come a little later when the player has enough Pokemon to make use of features that cities usually include.

I feel like as though there is no "right" answer other than GF following their tradition of the small town hero becoming a grand legend.
Anyways, I asked because I'm thinkjng of having my starter town be based on Santa Cruz. There's a guy that owns a shop that sells bikes, hoverboards, and experimental sneakers that lets you run faster and jump higher. He gives you the shoes to test out first and to advertise his store. I didn't know if that's too early for a starter town.

The "gyms" are all underground events that only the "in the know" are invited to. Like a fight club. That way it feels youthful and urban like I want it. Some of these events get raided by the Peacekeepers.
Anyway, after the Maestro is beaten, official gyms are made. With each gym representing a theme to add to the Song.

So, I'm running into a problem in pokecrystal where some Pokemon don't load the right palette.

It started when I tried to edit Bellossom's sprite. When I imported it, every Pokemon below Bellossom on the "palette_pointers.asm" list loads the palette above where it's supposed to. This leads to every Pokemon loading the shiny palette of the Pokemon above it on the list.

Anyone know what's going on here? I've already checked the file and they are all pointing to the right places.

Shit drawings are better than nothing.

Random first impressions based only on names:

Mammotar sounds too much like Magmortar, Snoboll sounds too much like Snubbull. Vigilent sounds cool, I'm picturing a speedy tree with legs. The Hungrub line seems like a nice combination of the usual early Bug and late Dragon lines. Pistola's a great name, I assume it's punning on pistols and pistils. The Fangster line has boring names. Boomshroom sounds promising, good typing and funny name. Ten legendaries is way too many.

Overall most of the names are obvious combinations of two words; consider using foreign languages (e.g. Popplio is a portmanteau of "pup", Hawaiian "pōpō", and "īlio-holo-i-ka-uaua") or at least names that aren't clearly prefix+suffix.

Snoboll is based on a boll weevil. A boll weevil has the snout that looks like a scoop. Globoll rolls down hills like an avalanche getting larger and larger.
Vigil means to stand watch over something. Ent is from LotR.Vigilent is based on a redwood tree. They are watchful forest guardians and are pseudolegendaries.
Boomshroom is a mushroom mushroom cloud.
Dude,Gen 4 had 14. Gen 5 had a shit ton too. Only Harkordia and Discada have relevance in plot.
Primengene(Prime+Engine+Gene) is based on transformers. It is a mech that transforms into Turretank(Turret+Tank), a mechanical Rhino, Vessarmry(Vessel+Armory), a battleship whale, and Uavian (UAV and Avian), a drone hawk.
I'm bummed you hate Fangster's line. It's my favorite one.
Also, that bit about Gamefreak using native languages is total bull. C'mon you know that.

How do I make a character change positions on a map after a certain event is triggered in pokecrystal? Like I want to have a character be in a certain spot, when I leave and talk to another person and come back he should be in a different spot in the room. Anyone know?

Make two different NPCs with the same sprite. The first one gets hidden when your event is triggered. You should add a second event that's already set by engine/std_scripts.asm:InitializeEventsScript, and turn that one off when you turn the first event on, to show the hidden-by-default second NPC.

There's also the moveperson script command, but that's not permanent. It's used for scripted events that only have effects until you leave the map again.

They're just scripts that get called when you enter the map. The different types are for what point during loading the map that they get called. To move a sprite you might want to use MAPCALLBACK_OBJECTS. See IlexForest.asm and the Farfetch'd callback.

So Shwimp, Krabulk, and Lobrawler are based on bodybuilders on Muscle Beach and Larry the Lobster from Spongebob with design elements of Pistol And Mantis Shrimp.
I'm thinking of giving them a signature move based on the pistol shrimp punch.
They already get Brick Break and Scald. Should it be a Physical Water Scald or A move that destroys Defensive stats? Like a reverse power-up punch? They also get Shell Smash and Bulk up.
Their ability besides Torrent is either Compoundeyes for maximum Focus Blast fun, Intimidate, Big Pecks, or Shell Armor.
