People are weirdly attached to Pokemon's gameplay despite it being the worst part of the series. Its appeal is monster collection and presentation, basically everything except the actual combat. Persona would be an improvement.

It wouldn't be. The only particularly good thing about combat in modern Persona games is that it's satisfyingly flashy and snappy, and boss fights have gimmicks to them to make them interesting like some hoped we'd get out of the UB's, otherwise it's got less to it than Pokemon. P1 is a mix of good and bad ideas, P2 is just shit.

I like both, I mean... It's hard for me to even compare these games even if they're RPGs, when I play Pokemon I kind of enter a "comfy" state, the game is not hard but it still is fun, I play Persona with other mindset, like if I went for a walk or climb a mountain, wanting to discover more deeper mysteries, this is true for others non-pokemon RPGs too.
They're different games with different appeals, different moods for different ocasions.
