No. Sadly I'm caught up with family and holidays and can't keep hunting as much.

Started up shiny hunting just last night after not really having touched S/M for a while. Got 3 and working on a 4th (which is really taking a while compared to the others).

I envy anyone who gets shiny via eggs, I've only managed 1 after hundreds of attempts and would rather stick to chaining and other methods.

Which gen 3 game is better for shiny hunting in terms of content? Emerald or FRLG?

I'd probably say Emerald, though, I'm not completely sure of the spread of post-gen1 Pokemon in FR/LG outside of the Sevi Islands.

Emerald has no RNG. Where other games have millions of seeds for encounters, Emerald has 1. If you manage to exploit this you can get entire boxes of shinies by forcing encounters to happen on frames that have shinies, which change based on the savefile. Although whether you count these as legitimate shinies or cheating is your opinion.

For good reason, dealing with all those hatched eggs is an annoyance, but I suffered through it once and won't again unless I REALLY like a shiny that the odds are in its favor.

I will not do it unless it's the only way i can get a shiny. I'm forced to do it for a Moonblast Cutiefly, and it's worse in SM because you can't just turn your brain off and hold down Left and you have to listen to the shit pokeride music. Even the whole Magikarp method doesn't make it less tedious. I'd rather be Soft Resetting, because then I can play Zelda or Final Fantasy or anything else while resetting.

How awful is SoS anyways? I tried it once during the story and gave up, then i heard about the rates getting reset at 256 and gave up on the method as a whole. Stuff like that and "Help didn't appear" really put me off it.

It varies, I have very little experience with it so far, but it's not bad, just really annoying. Get in a fight with what you want, make sure it's SoS is more of itself or what you want, use an adrenaline orb, and wait. Like I said, my luck was great last night, 3 shinys in a couple of hours. but now these damn Cutieflys.

The more I think about it the less sure I am of my Rufflet. Should I bother? It's Adamant with Keen Eye instead of Jolly with Sheer Force or Defiant.. I know I can use an AC but I'm not exactly rolling in the BP.

As for Easter hunts, I think I'm just going to stick with hatching eevees and maybe start a SR hunt for Azelf, Uxie, or Mesprit in OR if I can borrow my brother's 3ds for the day. Did it once and never again unless I REALLY, REALLY want a specific shiny and that's the only method of getting it. I'll stick to hoards, SOS, and whatever other methods.
