Continued working on a sketch I shared in an earlier thread, also tried to give it a base stage but I couldn't find a good precursor to its scales concept. Also realised during the coloring stage that I had essentially Pokemonified Donkey Kong, so I touched up the face and altered the color scheme to hopefully remedy some of that.

Like the idea with the base, sad that they didn't make the fort features more apparent in the final stage apart from some body textures. Heck, even a middle stage with a castle-esque cocoon like Shelgon would've been rad.

i always like your stuff, you are great with coming up with fun designs and you really understand the important of personality. but you need to focus on proportions a bit more.

not sure if i would peg this thing as a rock type straight away but i guess now with lyrcanroc being pure rock it's a bit more loosey goosey.

first stage can still have shoulder pads but make it balancing a rock on it's head, soccer style. the fact that the first stage is struggling to balance the rock will make it's evolution transformative. i actually used to have a fakemon like this but it was based on a yeti crab so i ditched it after crabominable was released.

Also, South American countries are fucking miffed that the US claims the adjective American. It's why it was a major sign of goodwill when the "American Embassy" in Mexico was renamed the "US Embassy".

Thanks for the pointers kind anon, will definitely add the rock knuckles before posting it again. Can't say I can agree about your proposed proportions, since like actual scales, it does need bit of a marginal height-wise so that the scales can tip up and down if needed, or just overall not look squished together.

One idea I tried with its base stage was to have a proboscis monkey having a tail similar to a ball and chain, and its body fur mimicking that of jail clothes. Just couldn't really get the flavor to connect between the two stages, even if both were sort of based around weights and the justice system.

you can't get too caught up on the design inspiration. you need to use it to give you ideas but not let it hinder you. the proportions i gave it allow the focus to be squarely on the shoulder/arms. your original version just has too much focus on the body/feet. if you look at my version it also looks more grounded and stable.

you're welcome to ignore my input, i just think that sometimes it's hard to let go. i've completely revamped a lot of my fakemon.

i have a bear fakemon that is like this, with a ball and chain tail. the line is based on tame bears/circus bears.
