The memories should have doubled as Z Crystals. There's little actual incentive to use the memories because all you're doing is sacrificing a slot that could be used for a LO or a Choice item.

The mask made it seem very mysterious and dangerous. Those shadowed eyes, obscured face and the backstory for this thing made it seem like something truly bizarre could be hiding beneath that thing.
