I still don't get what the huge issue was with cross gen evolutions. I prefer them over megas, region forms and z moves.

People didn't like them due to their designs and I speculate this is why Sylveon has been the only one post-gen IV.
I also think the Eviolite officially killed any hope for Pokémon that couldn't already evolve to get a cross-gen evolution.
