It wasn't overpowered last gen and it's not overpowered now.

Name 1 (one) counter to MegaGross that isn't a mega and is actually viable.
>>32294838
Ferrothorn
>>32294838
Name a counter to Lele that's not a shitmon like alolamuk
Name a counter to the Greniggers
>>32294936
Good point!
Let's ban all 3.
>>32294923
hammer arm
>>32294936
magearna
tangrowth, keldeo, fini and toxapex for ash frog, protean can fuck off
literally the only problem with megagross is the bullshit atk raise chance on mash that allows it to blow past its would be checks like scizor and ferro
I really hope it won't get banned, I fucking hate fairies
>>32289599
I really hate how this thing looks. Metagross looked cool then we get this thing.
>>32295121
meteor mash's mechanics didn't change between gen 6 and 7 you know
>>32295289
so?
>>32295139
This applies to almost every mega
>>32295347
so if metagross was ou last gen and wasn't a problem, and meteor mash didn't change between the gens, how can meteor mash be the thing making metagross a problem this gen?
>>32295377
because megas got buffed as a whole?
>>32295399
so it's not meteor mash then
>>32295399
In what way
>>32294936
>alolan muk

>>32295421
Getting the speed boost on the first turn helps megagross a lot.
Meta changes also favor it.
>>32294951
252 Atk Metagross Hammer Arm vs. 252 HP / 88+ Def Ferrothorn: 152-180 (43.1 - 51.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
you pretty much do tons of passive damage (1/8 from iron barbs, 1/8 from leech seed, and 1/6 from rocky helmet if you choose. Making 5/12 health loss every turn) and cripple Meta with thunderwave. A Metagross that stays on Ferrothorn is pretty much dead.
>>32289599
>Metagross gets banned
>OU becomes Tapu City
How about no.
What do people use to check/counter M Metagross, Lele, Fini, Greninja, Landorus - T and Koko?
Is the meta more offensive or stall?
>>32289599
Correct
>>32295509
Good then the Tapus can be universally banned except Top Bull
>>32295416
no, it is meteor mash
you can play around the fact that metagross gets 350 speed right away because it's consistent, you can't play around the fact that it pulls an atk boost out of its ass when it feels like it
>>32295461
That's the wrong calc.
252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Hammer Arm vs. 252 HP / 88+ Def Ferrothorn: 206-244 (58.5 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
If you predict the switch, you only have to take Iron Barbs and maybe Rocky Helmet damage twice and Ferrothorn dies without making a move. That's 1/4 of your total HP gone, 7/12 with Rocky Helmet, in exchange for getting rid of what is probably your opponent's best answer to MegaGross. Of course you also probably have to switch out due to the Speed drops so it's not like you get a free ticket to 6-0 city, but a well-predicted pair of Hammer Arms beats Ferrothorn.
>>32294838
i cant, my "ou" team only have mimikyu to deal with him, and bullet punch is a thing sadly

2hkos with a little prior damage.

>>32294838

>>32297222
252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 158-186 (40.1 - 47.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
If Rocky Helm it can just spam slack off and shrug off damage.
>>32294838
252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Meteor Mash vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Hippowdon: 135-159 (32.1 - 37.8%) -- 0.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Hippowdon: 150-178 (35.7 - 42.3%) -- 91.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
>>32294838
Hippowdon is C+ in the current OU viability rankings. It avoids the 2hko from Ice Punch and 2hkos back with earthquake.
0 Atk Hippowdon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Metagross-Mega: 168-198 (55.8 - 65.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 80+ Def Hippowdon: 170-202 (40.4 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

>Megagross

doubles is better anyway.
>>32295710
>>greninja
>>checks
Actually, Zapdos, Fini, and Tangrowth check it fairly consistently.
Power Creep has turned the entire game into an even bigger series of dice rolls than ever before. Where there are so many overpowered Pokemon that every battle ends up being a 50/50 depending on what set they're running and if you guess wrong there's no way to fix your mistake.
>>32299906
The only pokemon that really fit that description are Megagross and Protean Greninja, both of which get complained about on Smogon a lot, so a future suspect is likely.
>>32299932
I'm counting the ones who were banned to Ubers as well like Aegislash, Landorus and M-Lucario
>>32294838
greninja soft counters
Unironically, can take a meteor mash or get in on zen headbutt and forces the nigger out or flat out kills it.
>>32299952
Yeah those guys are total ass to play against.
>>32299978
That's the thing though. Each Generation they keep adding more and more of them.
The power creep is so bad that massive BST isn't enough to make a Pokemon good. If it lacks a proper movepool it's trash.
>>32299983
That was always the case, and typing and actual stat distribution also played a role. The only thing that I can think of that ever skated by on massive stats alone is fucking Kyurem-B.
>>32297785
Don't you know? Anything with sub 120 speed is slow these days.
>>32301406
Ugh when is speed/power creep gonna be fixed?
>>32301399
Until gen 4, at least
>>32302232
Never. The best we can hope for is that GF buffs older mons to be on par or at least close to the new, crazy ones. This game is starting to feel like Yugioh with how useless some of the mons from older gens are. Sure, some were always mediocre, but usually you could pull of some niche shit with NUmons. Now they're just wiped out before you can even do anything.
>complaining about metagross when le healthy yogi of no switch ins just got released
hello sub 1400 trash
>>32294838
Narutoad
Hippowdon
>>32302245
It still had a nice movepool and being a Ghost-type was always huge for it even if it couldn't capitalize on it offensively for so long. I wouldn't compare it to something like, say, Arcanine, which had huge stats for when it was released but mediocre everything else holding it back.
>>32299906
Any OU past DPP OU is trash and shouldn't be played for this very reason.
