If you predict the switch, you only have to take Iron Barbs and maybe Rocky Helmet damage twice and Ferrothorn dies without making a move. That's 1/4 of your total HP gone, 7/12 with Rocky Helmet, in exchange for getting rid of what is probably your opponent's best answer to MegaGross. Of course you also probably have to switch out due to the Speed drops so it's not like you get a free ticket to 6-0 city, but a well-predicted pair of Hammer Arms beats Ferrothorn.

Power Creep has turned the entire game into an even bigger series of dice rolls than ever before. Where there are so many overpowered Pokemon that every battle ends up being a 50/50 depending on what set they're running and if you guess wrong there's no way to fix your mistake.

Never. The best we can hope for is that GF buffs older mons to be on par or at least close to the new, crazy ones. This game is starting to feel like Yugioh with how useless some of the mons from older gens are. Sure, some were always mediocre, but usually you could pull of some niche shit with NUmons.
