You know what my biggest issue with gyms are?

Right now, Moltres is the only relevant gym Pokemon that could be considered "too strong". Every other team is still just Deoxys, Reuniclus, Mew, Zapdos, and the other normal league meta bunch.

Gym figures like Infernape line, Delphox, Braixen, Onix, Golem line, Charizard line, and all the other ones are STILL TRASH even IN the gym. They can't beat the normal league figures even with these huge buffs.

But even though the gym has PROVEN that these figures are shit even when they have +1 MP or +20 damage, after the gym is over, they're going to go right back to their old stats and they will NEVER be buffed.

Why won't they be buffed? We have proof that they need it. We have proof that even with the buffs they won't be overpowered. But they don't care and these figures are going to continue to be trash forever.

I don't give a fuck about Deoxys or the rest of the meta. I actually think they're only slightly overpowered and can still be beaten by competent budget teams at least some of the time, which is personally reasonable to me.

My issue is that there's objective data that a huge number of figures are radically underpowered even without considering Deoxys, but they won't be touched.

I'm more upset that Golem will ALWAYS be fused away instead of it potentially having a budget niche is what I mean.

Honestly, I think it's just an unfortunate side effect of Fire and Ground figures not really caring about their respective buffs. Most Fire types are 2MP so aside from Moltres an MP increase doesn't really affect their playstyle. However, they do tend to be a bit weaker with their White and Yellow attacks and would've loved the +20 attack
Ground types on the other hand tend to be stronger, but very slow and would've appreciated an MP boost more instead of an attack boost. Just look at how well Vibrava did last Gym vs this Gym.

There are obviously a few figures that are just too strong with these buffs (Moltres this gym, Vibrava and Gabite last gym, etc), but for every overpowered gym figure there are twenty others that are still shit.

If they announced that the Fire/Ground gym buffs were permanent, the meta would go literally unchanged outside of Moltres. Yet despite this, the buffs will get reverted come next week. I have no clue how this is justified.

Thanks to the 30 booster tickets, I got enough Material to finally buy the Wew I've been begging for. And it's even better than I expected.
While everyone is busy with the gym I'm taking my 3200+ rank back.
Decided to keep Greninja as well instead of replacing it with Wew, I like having all this speed. Would like to get a Lati@s or maybe a Ho-oh to try out next, but I'm pretty happy with my team now.

Low, i ditched it after the second day and struggle to get the motivation to play it

I made a team with my 3 EX fire figures, Charizard, Reshiram and Infernape, and a few other pokes like Onix -> Steelix, Vibraba -> Flygon and a random moltres, playing with Onix was fun, but it was also annoying because how slow it was.
I got shat on like never before by the first Deoxis team i got to play against, and probably would've got just as badly fucked by a Reu deck, so i went back to my league deck so i had at least a chance against them.
i guess i'll try to get the silver trophy and get as far as i can, but other than that, i don't really feel like playing in this gym, there's no real fun deck to play with.

Killing Reuniclus with Deo-A is damn easy. And when I'm against Reuni teams I try to keep a Deo on the bench so I can swap away confusion.

It does, but because of that I'm really careful with Deo-A. And if it does die it usually doesn't take long to have two others die and bring it back.

Reuniclus teams really don't bother me at all, it's Metagross I need to watch out for.

I don't think it's really worth running unless you run a fast team based on rushing the opponent. I'm using it in gym because my team is fast (and dude moltres lmao) but otherwise good positioning can usually keep them from taking your goal

I find this really hard when it's 4v4, you are sitting on one of their spawns, and they have Soar on fucking everything.
I've tried replacing my Goal Block with Scoop Up (since with Deo-S you can reach your own goal) but I really like goal blocking with Vibrava since you can't rush it.

I've only played Fire Emblem Heroes, no other mobage...is there a mechanic in this to make Pokemon you like more viable? Like I keep reading in this thread that Trapinch and Vibrava are good, is that just because of this gym thing that's in effect?

Trapinch and Vibrava are good because they're abilities are fucking awesome. There are plenty of normal pokemon that get used a lot because of useful abilities and what not, you'll run into about a thousand Shuppets despite it having the weakest attack wheel in the game.

You can level up your bros a bit, but everyone you face will be just as leveled. So once you get to the higher ranks, a shit bro will always be shit (rip drapion).
There are plenty of viable Pokemon though, especially if you like legendaries.

I haven't spent a penny and I broke top 10 worldwide monthly for a bit, and it's super rare I see an obvious "payed team", and "payed teams" only have a really situational advantage. The f2p currency is so overpriced it's not worth it anyway.

You get gems which can buy boosters (which have whatever figures are being promoted), if you play daily you'll have a constant flow of figures from timed boosters (which can have like any figures), and after you spend a shit ton of gems you can eventually buy specific pokemon you want (so if you can't ever pull that one figure you need to make your team perfect, you can eventually just straight up buy it)

What are some obvious signs that the opponent is using the AI? I just saw two of them. One is that they use hurdle jump with a birb over a non-birb. The other is that they use goal block with a figure that can literally walk to the goal.

It's a 4% chance (1 in 25). You also get a shit ton of gems early on to buy quads with. Reshiram is the best in the quad for the actual meta (Moltres is god in the gym but that ends in 2 days). Ho-Oh and Heatran are good pulls too

Ho-Oh is okay, but it's main purpose is to purposely job against Mews and Zapdos to bring your PC back to life.
Moltres is kind of sub-par nowadays, since it's only real niche is taking out enemy Zapdos and Articuno. But it's pretty good for a starting EX
Like >>32294474 said, Reshiram is probably your best bet for a pull, but it's pretty mediocre in the long run without an Overdrive plate so make sure to buy that plate if you do pull a Resh.
Heatran, Rhyperior, and Magmortar are also pretty good pulls so unless you're dead set on getting Reshiram, you're fine with these as well.

I used to have a Xerneas and Gardevoir core when the game was released outside Japan that worked pretty well for a while, but the rise of Zapdos and Mew as well as the White attack powercreep killed both of them. Kirlia->Gardevoir is pretty good though, since Kirlia has good opportunities to evolve

OK here me out for a second guys.

How bout a team where your sole purpose is to get a time out win. You get a few good defensive figures and you stack them on your own goal line. Its pretty hard to get through 3 figures if you stack them all on you own goal line so if you can get 4 or five then its should be very difficult. the opponent takes a few seconds in the starting turns as you quickly move your own peices to and near your own goal taking minimal time off your own clock. by the time opponent sees whats going on you its too late to make up for his lost time. You got a good 4 or 5 figures on your own line. it will be hard for him to KO all your guys in a row. Take some max revives and some clear waits so you can use guys straight out of the PC.

just a thought. havent even figured what the best peices for this type of genius[/poiler] strategy.

The issue comes from goal points being blocked. Even if your opponent doesn't realize, it shouldn't take five full minutes for your opponent to control the points of a defensive player, then slowly attack in with Reuniclus or Zapdos or whatever they're running. And once they put a figure on an entry point, you're not knocking it out when your whole team is Braixens and Wobbuffets.

honestly Round teams were pretty decent for this in the dragon/fairy gym. it stopped working at higher elo but you could get a lot of wins by playing passively and waiting for them to attack you. if the opponent had the advantage, you could choose to sit back with like 1:00 left and usually win

i think torterra is a good choice though like >>32299207 said. it's always been difficult to play around in the gym since i'm used to taking the entries to achieve my win condition. heatran or just the long throw plate in general could be a good choice. long throw is great for setting up early game and making sure you get all the pieces on the field (because of the threat of a surround) or getting in a pokemon lategame when your entries are capped

Added the Chemical Pollen Ability
We’ ve given [EX] Venusaur the Chemical Pollen Ability, which gives MP -1 to all Pokémon affected by Poison or Noxious while this Pokémon is on the field.

[EX] Venusaur really shines when paired with Pokémon that can inflict Poison or Noxious on the opposing Pokémon. Note that this effect is not cumulative. For example, if you have two [EX] Venusaur, the effected Pokémon will not get MP -2.


[R] Drapion
Changed Toxic to Venom Whip and increased its wheel piece size.
Changed Bite 30 to Noxious Fang 50.
Increased Cross Poison 60 to Cross Poison 70.
Decreased the wheel piece size of Miss.

While [R] Drapion was a figure with characteristics including the Battle Armor Ability and an Attack that inflicted Noxious, its capabilities were set at a low level.
We have now comprehensively powered it up with the Toxic Attack and switched to a new ‘kt Purple Attack, Venom Whip, which can inflict Noxious on a Pokémon that is 1 or 2 steps away. We also raised its damage values and decreased the wheel piece size of its Miss.


[UC] Bulbasaur
Increased the wheel piece size of Poison Powder.
Changed Vine Whip 30 to Seed Bomb 50, and increased its wheel piece size. Decreased the wheel piece size of Miss.
Along with the adjustments to [EX] Venusaur, we have also powered up [UC] Bulbasaur slightly.
While it still has the characteristically large wheel piece size of its Miss, we have slightly powered up its capability to inflict special conditions on the opponent.

I think it's highly probable that Sky Forme Shaymin is going to be the crappy EX available as a gym reward. The devs seem to like making legendaries/popular Pokemon available as gym prizes but they also seem to be keeping the 'mystical' Pokemon like Mew and Manaphy available in boosters. I think Skymin as a gym prize and regular Shaymin from boosters gives us both.

I don't think we actually have any legendary Pokemon that are Poison type, or even any "good/popular" Poison types (like Dragonite/Gyarados) that could be gym prizes.

This creates a problem of de-centralization where every game has a higher chance of being matchup-based. It's already hard enough to juggle countering reuniclus, countering deoxys, having enough speed/power in your deck as is. The last thing I would want is to be forced to slap Gardevoir in my deck because they made a 3MP Gengar with infiltrator that runs through everything with -1MP thanks to a noxious deck.

a lot of the time I just give up one entry and huddle around the other one
if they place figs properly they can steal both before I get all my last fig out I think but that almost never happens
vibrava helps to stop them a lot
if you move him 2 towards your goal, even if they take the corner they cant go straight to your goal because they'll get blocked by vibrava
I've had a few people fall for that when I they think they check me and it lets me check them with the 3mp fig I had out (if I went first) and they're forced to try an unfavourable ultimatum with their moltres to kill that guy, or use goal block if they have it


I kill them with lucario, over-reshi, mew or confuse then kill with vibrava sometimes
moltres hasnt been too annoying honestly

Long throw is very necessary. Getting both entry points blocked is hard on any game plan but especially this. Might even consider empoleon on the team until I'm lucky enough to get heattan. Tortera might be a good option with cornerstone to block an entry point while still allowing your own figures to jump in.

Third match
I controlled the match mostly. Opponent had one of my entry points, I did fine with blocking him access to the other. He kept his figure planted on the left entry point (was reun for most of the match, he switched for wobb at the end). That figure was not attacking my goalie for the chance of not KOing the goalie then getting surrounded next turn by benched pokemon. 2 Pokemon KOd, one not moving off my entry point, that's 3 fugures not utilized by opponent and that makes it easier to defend against. Was able to defend and cycle through my figures as he KOd them. Defended successfully, slow going tho. Time up win, pic related.

Tldr; time up win strategy testing. learned a lot, need further testing more results to follow.
