thought the design was meh when it was revealed but I caught a Stufful with a good nature and Fluffy early on in SM. Bewear was kinda slow but holy hell could it take and dish out a beating. I had one double battle with Mudsdale and Bewear and I felt invincible.

Bewear went from a pokemon I was ambivalent towards to one that became one of my playthrough MVPs.

But that would completely abandon the idea of Crabrawler wanting to climb a mountain to get stronger, which makes sense because coconut crabs like to climb things (it's why Crabrawler hangs out in piles of berries underneath trees, because it was presumably climbing them).

Crabominable with all its white hair represents an aged Crabrawler who's made it to the top, and the whole punching mitt thing shows a coach/boxer relationship, so for them to be counterparts instead of a straight up progression, or for there to be a split evolution just to placate the people who wanted a generic super rad epic cool boxer, would throw out all of that meaning.

Favorite starter. No seriously, I LOVE the idea that its swords are only a "detached" part of it's armor. A samurai's katana and armor are entirely separate material. But for pic related's case, using it’s sword is essentially using a chunk of your armor like a weapon. For being a form of shell and all. Pretty clever if you think about it.

When I first used Chikorita in HGSS, I couldn't stand using it and thought I would box it once I finished the main story, because I was a n00b back in the day. But I was having a lot of trouble with Red, so to fix that, I brought my Meganium back to the team and have it set up a Light Screen/Reflect. Light Screen/Reflect has helped out the rest of my team. I also taught my Meganium Toxic and something else that I can't remember.

Because of how it has helped me tremendously with Red, Meganium quickly became one of my favourite Pokémon. It's hard to use and it doesn't have the best type ever, but when you use it right, it can really do all sorts of great things. And I can't go without saying that Meganium is really, really cute. Same with Chikorita and Bayleef, actually.

Because it's completely impossible for both ideas to be incorporated into a single design, right? Its claws aren't COMPLETELY flat, but they definitely aren't perfect ellipses. The way it holds its claws up like it's trying to block, I don't think it's too out of the realm of possibility.

And sure, there will be a "canon" reason why Pokemon look the way they do, but dex entries don't break the 4th wall when it comes to explaining the design's inspirations. Passimian's dex doesn't ever say "Passimian is a literal rugby/football player", it just talks about the species being known for its teamwork, for example. The fur can be used to evoke yeti fur as WELL as give the impression that it's past its prime, which I think holds up because it's Hala's signature Pokemon.

So it's possible for Crawbrawler and Crabominable to be everything that both of us mentioned, and that's part of why I like it so much.

christ, just read its dex entires. it doesn't block or instruct others. it's literally lost on the mountain with amnesida. it even says it punches and its animations show it punching not blocking. there's nothing on the mountain for it to train because all the crabrawler are on the ground still. its claws aren't boxing pads they are just what it uses for punching and work as yeti footprints when it walks. see its trading card art.

your passimian example doesn't work either, because passimian's animations and information all portray it as a sports player even if it doesn't outright say it. nothing about crabominable's animations or information portray it as a coach, you're just making a bunch of stuff up to fit your theory.
