What is a bird, then? Zard has wings and it flies, and it doesn't look anything like any animal I know of. So that must mean it is some sort of fictional, monster bird or a demon or angel. Zard X looks like a demon, but normal Zard doesn't. None of them look angelic. So by process of elimination, if it isn't an animal, demon or angel, and it has wings, you're only left with a bird. There's no other thing it could be.

Full flight and partial flight are two different things asshat... So a torchic (chicken) piplup (penguin) can't fly to figure... But with rowlet it is a 50/50, dartrix probably would be the only one that could sustain his own weight with the size of its wings, and decidueye is an owl that lives in burrows.

The animals that there based off of can't fly, but are you really telling me the pokemon based off of an owl, Wich can fly, and it's previous forms are able to fly just fine, and it has literal big wings. Can't take flight, even the Z-move makes it obvious that it could take flight. But I guess you probably just ignored that.
