The national dex comes only with the Pokémon Bank, which costs $5. If you want the national dex in gen 7, you have to pay a yearly subscription fee.

I can live without the national pokedex, and if i really need the bank i only need to pay my hard earned yearly five dollaridoos.

I thought you only needed to pay the fee if you wanted to store/transfer pokémon using Bank, but if you only wanted the National Dex you could just download the app and link it to your games.

Personally I never cared about the National Dex and I use Bank that much it warrants a yearly fee, but I agree it's pretty shitty of GF to put it behind a paywall.

It's a hell of a lot different.

Megas and non-alolan Pokemon are usually banned, and the format is doubles. Stuff that's shit in smogon is amazing in VGC and online comp, like Araquanid (RU) or Arcanine (UU). At the same time, stuff like Tapu Lele are rampaging around killing everything.

It's a fun change from the sometimes stale OU meta.

It's hardly a feature worth having. Incentivising players to buy older games and transfer if they want to 100% the game always felt jewy and annoying to me, I like that S&M are more self-contained

The Bank National Dex is shit. It doesn't show progress for individual games, has fuck all featires even compared to SM's dex, and you have to exit a game and be connected to the internet in order to view it.

I use Bank a lot so this doesn't really bother me. The only detail that annoys me is that in SuMo, mons not in the Alola dex, don't have their dex numbers shown in the PC summary screen.
