Post comfy. Art, music, and, if you have them, stories.
How are you doing today, /vp/?
i am unwell today. two weeks ago (from tomorrow), one of my student mentees killed himself in his dorm room. i have worked through the sadness, but have not yet managed to scrounge up the willpower to care about any of my other professional responsibilities. i sense that i am disappointing my coworkers and other students every day that i continue to feel apathetic, but even that isn't enough motivation to make me get up and try to be productive.
here is a comfy mewmore remix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzgVgUnBimE
how are YOU, anon?

Shit sucks. I'm sure you're just putting pressure on yourself and that your coworkers respect you. People are always tougher on themselves than other people. Don't forget to take care of yourself and it's alright not to give a 100%. Just do what you can in the meantime.
>>32253841
thank you anon, that is very kind of you to say
>>32253763
I'm so sad to hear that anon, really -- that's a huge heavy thing to carry and I don't think anyone is blaming you right now for struggling with this. You're doing the best that you can in the face of a tragedy.
Thanks for the thread music, too.
As for me, things have been better -- my dog is getting older and having some health complications. She was recently hospitalized for a week, but she's on the mend now (vestibular disorder, makes you think your dog is literally in the throes of death, but most animals usually recover with little to no complications!) -- but it's still scary to think about. She's nearly 17, and she's been with me through losing most of my family to illness over the years -- I know the day is slowly approaching, but I still struggle with the knowledge that I'm going to lose her.
>>32253768Congrats, anon. You've done well.

i'm so sorry - losing a pet is extremely painful, but i imagine watching their condition worsen like that is even more heartbreaking. i'm glad that she's doing better though. she sounds like a very good girl
>>32254152
Thank you for your kind words. It is hard to watch her decline -- but she's still happy and doing well despite her bout of illness, and so I'll keep on doing what I can for her. If the day ever does come that she can't... live anymore, that she hurts too much or her mobility fails... I won't prolong her suffering for my own selfishness. But she's doing alright for now, and I'm honestly grateful to still have her with me, for however long I can. She's always looked a little bit like a Growlithe.

Thanks anons, she'd be happy to know other people appreciate her cuteness. She's a very people-oriented dog even now. I really appreciate your kind words.

Hoenn will always be my personal favorite region. I really appreciate how much space there is between towns and how remote some places are.

What's your favorite route, /vp/? I've always really liked Route 113. The falling ash and the music are really memorable to me.

If nothing else, Alola could be really comfy sometimes.
>>32255067
Oh, tough. Route 47 is really up there for me because of variety and soundtrack. I'm really fond of the Sinnoh snow routes too. They're really tough to get through but have beautiful scenery, which makes finally arriving at Snowpoint all the better.

I always thought a game like PokeGo would be the ultimate Pokemon experience, but honestly, it doesn't fill the void. I genuinely want to go there.

Goodnight /vp/, hope this thread's still here in the morning, but if not, take care out there.

I'll second 113.
>>32257820Man, Niantic really fucked that one up. Give it another decade or so and we'll probably get VR Pokemon. I'm just hoping that's before the almost certain economic collapse from the switch to a post-scarity society.

'night, anon.
What's your favorite comfy setting, /vp/?
I always kinda found Undella Town to be quite comfy when it was anything besides summer. Just the idea of a quiet, secluded area with small houses here and there right beside the ocean and that somewhat somber music feels right up my alley.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GTlTtnbnhYIf only hearing the autumn/spring/winter music for the town didn't instantly remind me of that one very shitty period of my life though.
these threads make me happy sad
I'm glad to see this thread when I'm sick in bed.
>>32253687
>>32253932
I lost my dog last week, it really sucks, and when I'm home it feels like something is missing all the time. Like the house is empty.
My dog had liver cancer, and it kept getting bigger to the point it started crushing her lungs and making hard to walk. It hurts bc it means it'll happen sooner, but don't let your dog suffer. I couldn't stand to see her that way
>>32257820
I'm with you anon. I've always loved the idea of interacting with my Pokemon. Just imagining myself on a regular day and the things we'd do together. But Pokemon go is nothing like that, the most interaction you get is catching them, and then they're just gone. I loved the cleaning mini thing in sun and moon.
These threads make me so sad, but happy as well. After all these years of loving the game, I still want nothing more then to be a part of their world.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Anon, I really mean it. Cancer is such a vicious hateful disease, and I've already lost most of my human family to it. I wish none of us would ever have to deal with it, that when our loved ones go, it's peaceful and painless -- I don't wish it on anyone. I really am sorry that your friend was taken from you, but it's good, in a way, that she's no longer suffering.
And when the day comes that my gal can no longer have a day free of pain, can no longer have any quality of life, I will take her across the Rainbow Bridge myself and let her be free of her suffering, even if it's gonna tear me apart to do it. She deserves that much for all she's given me.

'night, comfyanons. hope tomorrow's good to you.
I love these threads
It's been really nice to wake up and see this thread still alive.
Pokemon is painful because you grow so attached to these things and spend a hundred hours on a massive adventure with them... But then you get to post game and there is literally nothing to do.
You want to spend time with them but you can't.
Are Sun and Moon comfy? Haven't played them yet.
How comfy are the routes and music in comparison to Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova?
>>32277868
There's a lot of standout tracks, but most are more ADVENTURE than cozy.

I've been thinking about that a lot lately.
I've been doing a run of Expert Emerald with a nonsense team (right now it's Furret, Linoone, Masquerain, Grovyle, Donphan, and Doduo) and it's been a struggle due to lack of coverage and being consistently underleveled (deliberately.) But because it's been so stupidly hard, I've wound up surprisingly attached to these Pokemon for the first time in a long time. I don't even think I got this attached to my team in games where I could actually interact with them in Amie. It's been my comfiest runthrough of anything in ages, and I can't seem to recapture that in the newer gens.
And honestly, I think that the fact that so much of the newer generations are tied to the internet and become inaccessible (mostly) once the servers shut down. In the older games, there's still The Frontier, or the Pokeathalon, Contests, all kinds of little things I can keep doing if I bother to open the game, but they've all kind of fell to the wayside in the newer gens. Gen 5 might be the worst one off; the entire bottom screen is mostly useless now that the online features are gone -- the Dream World, the Entralink, Black City/White Forest, and everything else. Gen 6 had some of the best online features we've ever seen but once they shut down, Kalos is going to be literally barren after the credits roll. Bike Simulator can only keep you going for so long.
]I still love the games, but sometimes they feel melancholic to play, in a way, because at the end of the dayI can't recapture the magic of growing up with them.
>>32277868
It can be really nice sometimes, and honestly, I liked them. I would have killed a man to have Secret Bases in them, it would have been perfect for the region -- but in all, I did like them, and I love a lot of the route music. The games are far from flawless, but I don't regret my purchase at the end of the day.

>>32279120
The sightseer and Machoke in that picture always gets me.
Have these threads changed your opinion of any Pokemon? All the comfy art has made me really like Torterra when I used to not be as much of a fan. Lately I've wanted to train a Tropius, too, because of comfy fanart.
These threads make me a little melancholy.
>>32277850
I think this was half the reason I liked HGSS so much (other half being that it was escapism from real life). Johto felt like plenty of content on its own, so Kanto became the icing on the cake. I'm going to take them through BW/B2W2's post game when I get far enough.
>>32279066
Lack of servers in the older games hurts me. I wish I hadn't skipped Gen V in its heyday... I'm holding out hope for some sort of preposterously ambitious custom Dream World server project some day.

>>32281628
koo!
>>32277850
I know this feel
even if the game has a postgame, you're eventually going to complete that too
the only games that kinda remedy that for me are HGSS because of the following pokemon but even then there's only so much you can do after you explore both regions and catch everything you can
>>32279922
Venusaur, Quagsire, Flaafy's line
I've always liked Torterra but I didn't really care about Venusaur until I saw fanart of the player chilling under the flower similar to what I've always imagined doing under Torterra's tree
these threads also made me like Drifloon's line even more than I already did
Hoenn is also much more comfier than in the games (I've played RSE and OR but I never liked it as much I like Johto and Sinnoh)
>>32281496

>tfw I had a partial borderline hallucination from lack of sleep, exhaustion and too much alcohol about what it would be like to live in the pokemon world with all its beautiful environments and locations, particularly Unova since it was gen 5 at the time
Man, not even including the prospects of pokemon itself, I would love to see some sort of 3D depiction of the pokemon world with top notch graphics if even to just fuck around in first/third person.
Too bad it'll never happen for so many reasons.

Just wind up with a SEVERELY dangerous fever. Pharyngitis nearly killed me back when BW were about to release, and I wound up fever dreaming for a few days that I was beta-testing the games for Nintendo. Not exactly fun times, but I would have been okay dying like that.
I want to see a VR Pokemon game before I die. A good one. The one we all dream of, at a time when VR can emulate some kind of sensation of touch and contact.
On the other hand, I'd prolly waste away playing it. I'm not ashamed to admit it.
These threads make me sad. Something about seeing a trainer and their Pokemon just sitting in the woods or swimming together makes me willing to give up the Internet to live like that
>>32285885
I understand that feeling, anon. I honestly don't have much in my life to lose if the absurd opportunity to give it all up for a chance at a Trainer's life were presented to me. I want to travel and explore and get to know a world that seems just a little less fucked up. It's kind of bleak where I'm at IRL.
These threads help as much as they hurt.
>>32286145
Same. Just living such a simple trainers life style. Everyone in every city and town being freindly, meeting Pokemon and developing life long relationships with some. Exploring all sorts of environments. I'd give up cars and computers to live a simple life liek that
>>32286256
It seems a lot more peaceful. It seems like you can actually find your own way to be happy and make a living -- not just one or the other, which is how things seem to be here.
>>32286256

I had a thought a while ago that if I could live in such a peaceful and simple life at the expense of giving up computers and other such tech that I'm so used to, and fucking hell, considering my job came from and is centered around computers. I would give that shit up in a heartbeat.
