It all depends on what we consider the fandom. Fans that have seen most episodes? Likely a split that might favor Serena and Lillie considering their recent presence in the show. Anybody who has seen the show at some point? Where is that poll that has Misty beating the rest of the female characters combined? Because that's what it will always look like unless there's another huge upsurge in interest in the anime.

The anime overall is not even half as popular as it was in the 90's or early 2000's. It's rather obvious the first 3 girls were the most popular given they're the most well known and watched. It's only that there's a cutoff between the people who only watched the show for Misty and stopped watching, and everyone else who either didn't care or continued watching the anime long after Misty was gone.

Also keep in mind all the kids who watched pokemon 15-20 years ago during the OS or AG era are now adults, and probably stopped following pokemon years ago.

Dawn definitely had the best theme music, I loved how many different variations it had too that they played all throughout DP. May and Serena had good themes too but they didn't play them in the actual anime too often. Especially May, she didn't get her ending theme until we were halfway into Battle Frontier and she was nearly gone from the show at that point. From what i remember they used to just play the regular Advance Adventure theme during her battles, so that was good too
