Hate Lanturn though.

When I was wee lad and playing crystal (the first gen II game I got), I was super comfy spending ages fishing trying to find chinchou, finally trying to fish in the harbour. I miss those days. This Pokemon stands for so many things- mainly for a time when Pokemon games still had a simple and gentle charm (not the manufactured 'Charm' of alola etc). God and when I evolved it into lanturn. Fuck those where the days.

I have no preference for either one but I do remember the disappointed expression on my little sister's face when I told her that she couldn't de-evolve it.

I like chinchou. It's very cute. Learning it evolves into lanturn is one of the biggest disappointments in pokemon.

Good movepool and a less powercrept meta. It has horrible stats, but makes up for it somewhat with boosting moves. To be fair though, if the opponent couldn't manage kill a Lanturn before it boosted even twice, then you were playing against a braindead retard or the already easy game AI. Lanturn is nothing special except for the typing.

It's very cute and I love its eyes. I remember seeing them for the first time in that Pikachu and Pichu mini movie and drawing mini-Chinchous on my school notebook whenever I was bored.

Lanturn is okay but not was good.

Before sliggoo to goodra this was the worst evolution in the series. Lanturn ruins everything great about chinchou. The eyes, little feet, and dopey expression made chinchou lovable but lanturn in just a fish with even less of an angular look. At least chinchou is good in LC, it does good with scarf or specs. If they ever do cross gen evos again a more chinchou like evolution for lanturn would be great.

Chinchou has been my favorite Pokémon of all time ever since I received a Chinchou card back when the GS era began in the TCG. I'm pleasantly surprised we actually have a thread for my little guy.

I like them both, but something about chinchou's football shape is just really great in comparison to how lumpy certain anglerfish are. The plus eyes and the stubby fin feet were also neat. I like lanturn as well in general. It also has a pretty neat, more fish like, body shape, but I'm kinda sad those features stopped with chinchou.
