As you can see, there's no real pattern on how long after a game comes out that they announce a new one. However, second or third games in a Gen have consistently come out about 4 months after being announced. ORAS was a bit longer, though it was dry on info for a while and had a really out of the blue reveal, as if they announced it a month or two earlier than they were ready to.

So when to expect the next game reveal depends on when you think it'll come out. If you think we'll get a new game at the end of this year, then expect an announcement around Summer. May at the earliest, August at the latest.
If it won't come out until 2018, then there won't be announcement until next year. November this year at the earliest, if it had an unusually early year released like FRLG.
