So, uhh I found something creepy....Sprucifix learns Surf at Level 1 to fit in with his whole "Jesus walk on water" motif
So once you beat Freddie's Gym you can skip a large portion of the game and Surf backwards from Veepier town, because you no longer need to wait to get HM 03 the way you are supposed to get it (through the story).
Also, I Surfed in some other places and the houses were empty, presumably because the appropriate Flags weren't triggered for the NPCs to appear in the houses (I'm talking about the house across the water in Activuit City)

Several things make my game freeze:
-Any mon using Focus Blast (Freddy's Wifemin was fucking hell)

The music plays fine in normal VBA (the dead project), but normal VBA (has bad picture quality, and doesn't play in 60 FPS - so I use VBA M instead

In this game, Cursed Body works like Poison Touch - it can disable moves if THEY attack YOU. Weird. Also, if you are slower and get hit before you can execute your move, Cursed Body can disable the move you selected before you can use it, even if that instance would be the first time you used it that battle. I don't know how to feel about this

To a degree. Still, it's not a bad idea to be willing to burn some time training a new mon or 3 for any given gym, just to make sure you can counter it. Past that, your only other real option is to either go with with a stupidly good strategy or stupidly overleveled mons. Picking the berries that grow near/in gyms helps too - they're all the ones that reduce supereffective damage from that gym's type
