The other day I needed a specific nature ditto I didn't have in sun, and it took me legit 30 minutes of walking around running from encounters to find one. Then the synchronize failed. in oras that shit would've taken 2 minutes max.

I'm guessing they wanted to have following pokemon going into the game (they played around with it in D/P with amity square) and made the pokeathlon so the sprites would get more utility

I miss when trainers would randomly call me on my journey and tell me about their day/Pokémon, made me feel less lonesome on my journey
