I recently bought Pokemon White 2 from Amazo UK (Marketplace). The game was supposed to be "brand new and factory sealed":

However, when the game arrived, and I gave it a closer look, I found a few difficult to notice at first glance scratches and imperfections on the upper and right side of the game. And the box felt re-sealed rather than factory sealed (as if it is original material, but had been previously open and then resealed).

But when I was talking to some people online, I was told that I shouldn´t feel cheated by the seller, and that I should be happy that my purchase is actually a genuine White 2 game, because most DS Pokemon games that are still "brand new and unused" today, are actually fakes and bootlegs, so I should be glad that I didn´t recieve one of those.

So my questions are: are there really THAT many bootleg Gen 5 Pokemon games sold as "genuine" these days? Or is it an exaggeration? I even read somwhere that around 70% of DS Pokemon games sold today are bootlegs... Is it true?

And so, should I be content with my probably-used-but- at-least-genuine White 2 game, or should I try to get an actual brand new BW2? Or is the risk of getting a fake on Amazon/E-Bay too high?

Thanks!

just play the game nerd thats what its there for

That´s far from the answer I am looking for.

Non- edgelord answers are welcome.

Then fuck off to tumblr.

Didn't you post this on Saturday?
>>
If it's not in those black cartridges it's fake. End of story
>>
>>32196364
don't worry, pretty sure it's factory sealed
>>
>>32196388
Nobody answered so I am trying again...
>>
>>32196380
That wasn't even edgy. You deserve no help.
>>
>>32196392
I really hope you are right.

However, the cartridge itself had a few small scratches and imperfections on the upper side and right corner, and I don´t know what could have caused them other than somebody using the game...
>>
Wh ythe fuck do you need a genuine one?
>>
>>32196364
Were the contacts scrached ?
>>
>>32196410
For the same reason I wan´t a Sony TV made by Sony, not by some chinese fakers.
>>
>>32196419
i mean a brand new factory sealed one
brain malfunctioned a bit there
>>
>>32196417
You mean the metallic parts on the bottom of the cartridge?

I don´t think they were scratched, but maybe I just can´t tell the difference.

>>32196364
Hey OP... I know this is a really dramatic situation for you and all... I can tell... but you should just play the game and stop worrying about collecting nearly worthless collectables...
>>
>>32196364
>Amazo UK

don't worry that much
the possibilty for a bootleg would be way higher if you'd live in america. i'm europee myself and it's kinda "hard" to even find bootlegs here ...except the extreme obvious ones from aliexepress and shops like that
>>
>>32196427
Oh, sorry. I want a brand new factory sealed game to be sure that it´s in perfect condition.

If the game is used by someone else, I can´t be sure were they careful with it. Could´ve poured liquid over, and so on.

This is a new level of autism. It took me one minute to find one you can buy on the Nintendo store that redirects to a brand new one you can buy from Nintendo off amazon US, im sure your autism will cover the shipping charge. You're fucking welcome OP now delete the thread and kys

Thanks, but I live in Europe, and play on a European console.

gonna let you know right now, your case should look black like pic related. if it's anything else, it's not in it's original packaging. secondly, look closely at the wrap pattern on these boxes. that might help you identify reals from fakes.

also, unless you're collecting them sealed, there's no point worrying about it being factory sealed. if you're just playing them for the game, you should be fine. however, if you were charged a premium based on it being "factory sealed" then you might have been ripped off.
>>
>>32196488
The DS isn't region locked.
>>
>>32196576
That clear box is legit for some regions.
>>
>>32196576
European packages are white and transparent

Stop misleading OP if you have no knowledge of the topic yourself

Also, OP, in my experience 99% of fake Pokemon games from places like Hong Kong and the like are produced for the American market and hence will have American ESRB ratings (i.e. E, T, M). It's very, very rare to find a European branded fake, so unless you got extremely unlucky, you should be safe.
>>
>>32196586
BW/BW2 are region locked if you play on the DSi.
>>
>>32196622
Thanks.

hey OP

shut the fuck up

The cart should be black, firstly, which it is, and I think in Europe, the box is clear, but I could be wrong, my original store bought is clear IIRC. I think it should be fine, could've been scuffed in the factory.
>>
>>32196435
>>32196435
Some people just prefer brand new condition, nothing wrong with that
>>
>>32196960
So you think my game could be brand new, after all? That´s good. The few scratches could´ve been just a factory thing, as you said.

Also, the cartridge was placed upside down in the box when it arrived, by the way. But I heard it is not an uncommon thing for DS games.
>>
>>32197041
Also, yes, my box is transparent. I think those are the original boxes for Europe.
>>
The game is legit, OP. Not sure about New or Used, though.
>>
>>32196364
If the cart is black, looks legit, and bluetooth/IR functions work (Gen 5 uses these for trading/battling), it's more than likely real.

Yes, DS games are really easy to pirate. You have to be careful because it won't work on 3ds and it will work with bugs and missing functionalities on DS, sometimes not even saving properly.

I had a DS with a flashcart years ago. Now with a job and a stable life, last year I bought a 3ds and the original 4th and 5th Pokemon games. I made quite some research on how to identify clones because I had to buy everything online. So it's possible to tell the true cartridge from even the good cloned one, and you can always ask for more photos and Google reverse image them. Used games are rare to find sealed, and more expensive if you do. Since it's sealed, you can't see the cartridge.

For 3ds, there's no pirate cartridges, and buying them new helps supporting the game. But for DS games, I recommend you to learn to tell the difference and then buy used stuff, it's safer this way, and cheaper. You can even get forgotten event Pokemon sometimes from the previous save before erasing them.

Forgot to say, but thanks to me being careful, I never got a fake cartridge from any of my purchasings.

In a normal thread, sure. In a thread where someone is asking for your fucking help, be polite and give normal answers, or fuck off.
>>

I am playing on a 2DS, and the game works fine.

As for New vs Used... I wanted to buy a new White 2, just to be sure nobody has messed around with the cartridge.

I always think that if I get a "Bran New" cartridge, it will last longer than if I buy it "Used"...
