Gamefreak did not have any artists on staff until Gen3, so there is very little art at all of Kanto.

This is a big part of why they pushed so hard for new hardware (Gameboy Advance) and why the games were not backwards compatible, the older cartridges couldn't handle such high magnitudes of art.

Agreed. I'm sick of Kanto as anyone else but it does need some sort of revisit. Id be fine Kanto remakes/sequels b/c that should hopefully stop or at least reduce the amount of Kanto pandering
