I'm actually taking the time to catch the land spirit pokemon with appropriate natures. My pokedex has been 4x 99% for a bit, but I didn't wanna fight the 3 capture rate while needing a specific nature. Time to bite down and grab my shiny charm. Going to hatch a shiny froakie for sure, but I don't know if I'll do it first, because it needs the protean roll.

Any suggestions on some shinies to work on after I get the charm? Would like some trophy shinies that are mostly for looking good.

It doesn't matter. As long as both parents are of different regions, you're fine, but always keep the foreign parent in the daycare. Then you can always use the offspring they produce for better IVs and keep switching until you're satisfied.

My masuda luck in gen7 is way better than XY. I bred thousands of fennekins back then and this is the first one I got. only took 3-4 boxes. got 5IVs sadly no zero in attack (had a 50/50 chance) but I could care less. gonna hyper train it. finally got all the egg moves (heat wave for doules) and the right ability / nature.

I've hatched 2 shiny charmaner, 1 absol, 1 sandlit, and 1 jangmo-o in pokemon moon without a shiny charm relatively easy. Circumstantial, of course. I have my shiny charm now.

That's exactly how I feel. In total, I'm over 1,100 eggs for this damn Cubone, and every other MM has taken between 25-30 boxes. It was easier hunting in ORAS. Good luck to the both of us, and hopefully we can get our shinies before the mission ends.

They're Japanese, 6IV, shiny, love ball, think the nature is Timid but I'd have to double check, if that matters to anyone.

The sales are going well however I looked up the manga and sadly most of it was adapted. All chapters seem to be very short little stories and the adaptation was quite good giving it some sense of time and the order is quite different. Thus the main problem is the lack of content so even if we get a new season it will take a long time. But at least there's another OVA coming in May so there's something to look forward to.

New to shiny hunting, which is more effective? Masuda or the call for help method?

I'm so happy, /shg/. I hatched 2 shinies in 3 days!

First was Porygon, the night before the event went live. Took about 11 or 12 boxes, which is very long for me.

It's missing a couple perfect IVs but it got the 0 attack I wanted, so I have no complaints. It'll be a 6 IV (technically) once I evolve it and Bottlecap it.

And of course I got unlucky with the IVs again, but nothing some Bottlecaps can't fix.

I've always been super lucky with shinies but terrible with IVs. You guys have no idea how great Bottlecaps are to me.

I'm not entirely sure - there's been conflicting info on the SoS chances, and probability isn't the most intuitive branch of mathematics.

I generally find SoS to be a little quicker, and I almost always get a shiny within a cycle of 255 encounters.

on the other hand, there's other things to ask as well. if you want a specific nature or egg moves, masuda is better. if you want a specific gender, SoS with cute charm is probably better.

I find I switch methods occasionally, just to avoid boredom.

I hatched a shiny Popplio for my girlfriend at the time in about 90 eggs. Sadly it was male but man I'm just going to take a quick hunt like that and shut up. Doubt I'll ever go back and try for a female.

Don't just breed. Try SOS chaining and SR. I've hatched less than a thousand eggs, 3 of them were shiny while 2 came from SR and the rest were a mixture of RE and SOS.

My first shiny this gen was a Cutiefly through SOS without a shiny charm. Did it again because I wanted a female. Took about eight hours total for both.

I tend to want specific natures, egg moves and HA's on my shinies so breeding has become my preferred method.

I've thought about SOS again for some specific mons though because they're a lot faster it seems like. Have a SOS Smeargle bred and trained just for it but I just haven't taken the time.

47/49 of my shinies were obtained without the Shiny Charm. I only got it on St Patrick's Day.

My suggestion is to SOS genderless Pokémon (such as Ditto) or Pokémon that don't need egg moves (such as Smeargle). Yeah the synch doesn't always work, but a shiny is a shiny. And if you're working on a shiny living dex, then all the better.

For Sneasel, Dream and Love ball both look equally good.
For Tyranitar, friend ball has those red shape things similar to the black shaped things Tyranitar have, green doesn't match too well. Safari ball has some green colours which suit Tyranitar better and love ball's matches the pink on it's belly

Depends on where your odds land. I've had shinies take from 9 eggs up to 2959 eggs. The key is to not focus on how many eggs it's taking you and make your objective filling up boxes.

If you look at the stats of the Pokemon, shines have a red star. You can see it in the posted screenshots in this thread. But after awhile, your eye will catch that slight variation. I know after hundreds of white flabebe, I still caught my shiny by sight and the only difference is it has purple pupils.
