I'll start
>Pokémon Emerald
>At the Elite Four
>Team around level 55
>Consists of Blaziken and Mightyena(both from the start of the game), Absol, Crawdaunt, Rhydon, and Linoone
Three Dark types and Linoone marks desperation, lads. Not a lot of resources to go on.
>Need to win on this challenge or not at all
>Blaziken is generic Dual STAB with Bulk Up
>Crawdaunt is heavy hitter with Sludge Bomb and Brick Break
>Mightyena is support with Swagger, Taunt, and Toxic
>Absol is Calm Mind with Thunder and Ice Beam
>Linoone has Belly Drum and Strength
>Rhydon is generic Dual STAB
Cont.

>30 Full Restores
>50 Hyper Potions
>I'm an item fag sue me
>Briefly consider swapping Rhydon for death fodder, but Linoone basically is death fodder
>Don't expect anyone but Blaziken and Crawdaunt to put in a lot of work
>Challenge Sidney
>Tag team of Blaziken and Crawdaunt easily gets the job done
>Little over leveled at this point, so it's expected
>Phoebe also goes down easily due to my myriad of Dark types, Mightyena put in work but her Dusclops were annoying
>Next is Glacia
>Use Blaziken against the Glalie, not worried about losing her to Explosion since I won't need her for Wallace
>Crawdaunt uses Swords Dance and sweeps the Sealeo and Waldron, miraculously dodges Sheer Cold
>Confidence is building but drops when I realize I have no hard counter for Dragons
>Typical for Nuzlockes
>Crawdaunt and Absolute both pack an Ice move, hope it's good enough
It's getting good, don't worry

>Besides Absol
>Need to heal her back to full so she won't just die
>Have to kill off another Pokemon
>Choice between Blaziken, Mightyena, and Crawdaunt
>Mightyena is obviously the weakest link
>But Blaziken will obviously be useless against Wallace, leaving me down to just Crawdaunt and Absol
>Mightyena can Toxic stall and Intimidate Whiscash and Gyarados
>mfw I'm about to sacrifice a Blaziken for a fucking Mightyena
>Make the necessary sacrifice
>Blaziken dies to a Dragon Claw too
>Absol back to full HP
>Clean up Salamence and Altaria with Ice Beam

And that's how I beat the game with the Poochyena I caught from the very beginning
I can talk about my Soulsilver and Platinum E4 challenges if you guys have no yarns to spin.

Because I know that if I start playing by other people's rules, there will be no end to the conditions.

No legendaries, limited Pokémon Center uses, no items, Wedlocke system, Egglocke...it goes on and on.

Eventually I'll be trying to beat Dark Souls with a Guitar Hero controller.

Nuzlocke had two rules only. Anything else should be up to the player only.

My best nuzlocke would probably be HG/SS. My team was fucking awesome, we went through a lot of bullshit but in the end we fucking did it.

One time my Nidoking resisted an hydro pump from a Lapras with 1 (ONE) hp. I also lost a bunch of bros and hos, and switched a lot of team members, but that's what makes a nuzlocke really fun and memorable.

I even defeated all the kanto gyms, but i never defeated the league again, because grinding in HG/SS is just stupid. And yes, i spent like 100 hours battling in the Battle Factory just to get them all those cool moves.

Meganium: giga drain, earthquake, toxic, light screen

Nidoking: sludge bomb, earth power, brick break, thunderbolt

Steelix: iron tail, crunch, ice fang, curse

Houndoom: flamethrower, dark pulse, thunder fang, crunch

Vaporeon: surf, ice beam, signal beam, waterfall

Dragonite: dragon claw, fly, thunder punch, dragon dance
>>
>>32183277
>1. Any Pokémon that faints is dead forever
>2. You must catch the first Pokémon you see on each Route

Link to any source that says otherwise? Because the other setting mostly just makes my Pokémon take some extra chip damage and adds more grinding to the game.

What's done is done though, really no point in derailing the thread anymore.

Best Story is probably this;

>Sacred Gold
>Against Sabrina
>Crobat vs. Wobbuffet.
>Minyades the Crobat was in the red, Wobbuffet was just above half. I used confuse ray on it. After that I hit it with Fly. She kept on living with barely 5hp left. Wobbuffet goes for the counter move and…. It hit itself in confusion. I won.

>First mon you meet in the first patch of grass is always same pokémon.

XY did this too, fuck that fucking Pidgey.
>>
>>32183189
But he's right you fucking retard. There are only two rules in a Nuzlocke, and that isn't one of them. You can't just make up new rules and then accuse other people of doing it wrong when they don't follow them.
>>
>>32183290
Liquid Crystal is a Nuzlocke death trap. I only beat the E4 once and have not yet gone to Kanto, my death toll is already 16.

Fuck Brendan appearing after the E4. I barely got out of that pit alive.
>>
>>32183434

>later, around 3rd gym
>fighting a gym
>almost get teamwiped again but combee pulls victory out of his ass

>even later, before 6th gym
>it happens again
>wtf this combee is a fucking god

I got teamwiped at the 6th gym and lost the nuzlocke because of it, but I kept the combee as a memento
>>
>>32183504
I don't actually have a problem with the OCs. They aren't that different from your typical competitive rival. The most annoying thing was how Silver popped up immediately after Axel in Azalea, without giving you time to heal, and his team being a couple of levels above yours. Brutal.

I like the original evil team. They were hammy enough to belong in Pokemon.
>>
>>32183574
Seriously, fuck Pokémon Y Nuzlockes The early game is such bullshit.

I lost my Braixen to an Axew with Dragon Rage before the second Gym...still mad about that. Not to mention how I got stuck with a frail Floette and Skitty.

And then I lost my Bulbasaur to the double battle with the twin Furfrou at the mansion...absolutely brutal.

Eventually lost the run shortly after the third Gym.
>>
>>32183666

XY can be surprisingly mean. The section between Grant and Korrina's Gym can be strangely brutal, especially Reflection Cave. I learned to fear the Fighting type trainers the most, even more than Veterans or major bosses. They always have coverage. Rock Tomb Hawlucha with dual STAB as well is next to impossible to tank.

Worse still, XY can work with you or against you with variety. You could get Honedge on Route 6, or you could get Sentret.

I've run it successfully 4 times with different rules so I know where the hard parts are, but god damn.

Sun and Moon seem easier aside from some of the totems, but Alola's lategame is harder than any other except arguably BW2, but major bosses have perfect stats and EVs too. I didn't have issues with Lusamine really on both runs, but it was things like Hapu's Mudsdale or a crit from Hau's Incineroar on my Primarina that really made me rage. And there's the Z moves too.

>Once again, not a lot of resources. Not as much opportunities to catch Pokémon in this one
>I know Grimsley is going to rock me, figure I'd save him last
>For some GENIUS reason I chose Marshal first
>I guess it was because I knew he would also give me a hard time and I wanted to have my full party
>Wanted to try and see if Jellicent and Galvantula could make something happen
>Battle begins
>Out comes his Throh and my Galvantula
>Decide to test the waters, hard switch to Golurk to see if a Rock move was coming
>Yep, he has Stone Edge
>Later I realize his whole team has Rock moves
>Hard switch to Zweilous, realize he has Payback
>Sinking in how unprepared I am for this

>>
>>32184130
Because the entirety of the game's difficulty isn't determined by that one setting.

Otherwise, it would obviously be included in the challenge's rules.

A very small percent of battles would be different with the setting anyway.

I'm not gonna lose a Gym Battle because my Infernape got chipped by an Avalanche.

You play Nuzlockes your way, I'll play 'me my way.

Do you have any interesting stories to tell? Particularly of that time the Set system royally screwed you over?

>want to do a challenge run

All of these rules make the game harder, and they're all just as arbitrary and made up as the rule you're imposing. So if you've done any of them, that means that in your own words you've
"removed all semblance of difficulty" and are just as casual compared to someone with stricter rules as the guy playing on Switch seems to you.
>>
>>32184343
the point is to play the game differently than you normally would, and to make it more challenging
you can up the challenge by limiting yourself even more, or you can just stick with the two rules and play it that way

why do you people act like it's inconceivable for someone to enjoy the game unless they play it a specific way? and why do you care so much? congrats you beat the game on impossible mode, good for you, but that doesn't invalidate the way someone else plays because it isn't as hardcore as yours
>>
>>32184343

>Face Silver
>Knock out initial mons, taking some hits
>He sends out his Croconaw, which is a level above the rest of my team

I play Nuzlockes with the main rules, plus Set mode and a customized version of that rule to avoid repeats. Reason is I do Nuzlockes runs to have a different experience everytime, and ending up with similar Pokémons to other runs ruins the "uniqueness" of each run.

My White run ended literally in GHETSIS. Although it was pretty much obvious I was going to lose since N. His KlinkKlang (aka Zoroark) Focus Blasting my Bisharp screwed everything up. Lost half of my team there. Ghetsis' Hydreigon just finished the job.

I played White 2 months later, and in my head canon, Team Plasma winning against my first run means they actually conquered Unova, and I was trying to get revenge on them.
White 2 is easier than White (although challenge mode makes things interesting), but I grinded so much that it ended up being way easier.

>Dead
>Spend the rest of the battle paranoid as fuck

Rest In Peace, little trooper.

im doing this nuzlocke thing where i transfer the mons i used to defeat the champion to the next region and make them level 1
i started from firered, then went to heartgold, platinum, white and currently on white 2, will do y alpha sapphire and sun next
play in set mode, and have a cap on grinding where none of my pokemon can surpass the gym level.

the only one who has survived this ordeal the most is a golem from firered, the meganium i got as a starter died against ghetsis in bw1

my autism also made me record all the gym battles/e4 champ battles, i will upload them when im done if you are interested
>>
>>32185185
I've been doing something similar, only without the level 1 thing.

I've migrated any and all survivors from a past Pokémon game to the present, then I'll use them to help complete the after game. Also planning to complete Pokémon Battle Revolution with the Nuzlocke survivors.

Should be doing that after I complete Firered, but that game feels like such a grind...

I'd love to see some videos, by the way

I used one in my Platinum play through, had her tag team with my Porygon Z to Agilipass and plow through the E4, didn't work as well against Cynthia though

I can also attest to Golem's strength, he basically carried me to victory in a Soul Silver play through, too bad it's hard to evolve Graveler in GBA games (otherwise I wouldn't lose anyone to that Salamence, eh?)

I've always had issues running Tepig in White 2. The problem isn't that it's bad - I think it gets you out of the early game the best - but that you lose a guaranteed Water or Grass type. I ended up wiping to Clay one time because Rock Slide weak Ducklett was my only Water encounter and I didn't get a single Grass type either. The opportunity cost is real.

Does that really count though?
Battle royal is the same format as battle tree, and you get the same outcome regardless of win or loss
>>
>>32188461
I would count it, a faint is a faint. Besides, I already released it.
>>
>>32187586
I always think that choosing the Water starter in a Nuzlocke is a bad idea, because Water is the only type that you're literally guaranteed to find a surplus of, what with the fishing and Surf areas and whatnot. It's also pretty disappointing when you catch a Pokémon but can't put them on your team because you want more coverage.

The only two exceptions I've made to this rule were Blastoise in Firered, because there were not as many good Water types in that Gen and Fire was weaker due to no Steel types (and Flying types were fucking everywhere), and Primarina because it's part Fairy, and having anything that can counted Dragon is a god send
>>
>>32188345
Is it even possible to get through that shit without dying?

Type:Null is fucking broken at that point and it feels like they always gang up on you

I lost my poor Alolan Grimer the first time

>>32189883
Wait, so you had to beat the game with 10 Poke balls?

You had to build a full roster with just the Pokémon from the beginning of the game?

How the hell did you manage that?

Here's a story from my Soulsilver nuzlocke

>just made it to the safari zone
>around 10 deaths, including my starter
>get my encounter in the mountain area because I didn't count the geodude and sandshrew
>shiny
>fucking
>larvitar
>caught him first ball
>not lettin this nigga die
>decide I'll grind it up to level 30 so I can get a pupitar just so it can take hits because it's fragile as fuck, lonely nature
>run into mankey
>click rock slide
>miss
>oh fuck, karate chop
>one hp
>click thrash and kill

Transferred him up to S/M a week ago, still my only surviving mon from that nuzlocke
>>
>>32188736

Water always has a surplus minus Unova to some extent, but it's always a good choice for a Nuzlocke. A lot of Water types are also later than they need to be, especially in Hoenn ironically. They generally survive easier than the other two types.

>>32189822

I actually think Gen 5 is one of the best to run, both sets of games too. It's challenging and fast paced without being a completely demoralizing grind like DP or HGSS. I think it's better than gens 1 through 4 (minus Platinum) certainly. Helps that you're guaranteed to get lots of unique Pokemon you don't get to use in many other games due to it's set up, unlike say Johto where you get the same Kanto Pokemon as ever. Not to mention that nearly everything in Gen 5 is usable at worst.

>>
>>32197649
Why would you be anything but disappointed with Purrloin? The joke with BW/B2W2 is how fucking bad Purrloin is. Ive done like 5 nuzlockes in those gens and never once had a Purrloin survive even to evolve, and thats playing safe too.
>>
>>32197966
with how much you spam the board about autism i'm starting to think you are an autist yourself.
>>
>>32197990
it really does seem like a cry for attention, doesn't it?
truly pathetic
>>
>>32197870
In a case like that, I find it's easiest to think of some theme for the run beforehand, and then look up a list of words fitting that theme. Or name all your catches something starting with a certain letter, and have a list of words/names starting with that letter someplace to go check. Narrows down the choices so there's less time spent thinking of a name.
>>
>>32197870
if it's something i want then i'll agonize over the nickname, otherwise i'll go with whatever pops into my head even if it sounds retarded
>>
>>32197870

It goes one of two ways for me. Either a running theme, no matter how tenuous, or I just think of random shit or whatever first comes into my head.

Like I have a Gumshoos called Maurice. Why? Fuck knows.

>Sweeps Crasher Wake's gym but does to his Floatzel
>Fucking low-accuracy Thunder

Some other Pokémon died, most of them to stupid shit like Gravelers and Geodudes. All around I had pretty bad luck with encounters.

>ffw to Iron Island
>Encounter that friendly NPC
>Double battle with 2 ace trainers, 3 Pokémon each
>This is where it ends
>Go complete tard and accidentally hit partner's Lucario with Close Combat
>KO

I got my ass blasted because of my autismo.
