Mainline, GameFreak developed Pokemon games will be released for the Nintendo Switch.
There will not be a successor to the 3DS. The Switch is the end of there being separate handhelds and consoles made by Nintendo. 2017 is the last year that the 3DS will get games.
This is the future. You cannot change this. If you don't get a Switch you will soon not be playing Pokemon anymore.

I can always play the old games which are sometimes better.
I don't mind getting a Switch, I did get a n3ds for SM exclusively. When the new Pokemon pokemon game comes out for the switch I'll get it. I wont be happy about it though.

I'm fine with that. Just won't be playing Pokemon until pirating is possible on the Switch. Game Freak isn't getting another cent from me.
