If any Johto character deserves a Tyranitar, is Silver. It fits with his personality and makes a great counterpart for Gold's Dragonite.

Changing the cocoons takes focus away from Scyther. I really like what HGSS did by giving it U-Turn; adds a lot of suspense as you wonder/worry when the Scyther is coming back out.

You know what. Skarmory would fit Falkner a lot more than Jasmine, Plus it's a one stage mon and can be a reasonable difficult opponent for the first gym. Or...Or you can have Falkner use a Gligar it is part flying and has good defense, actually would be tricky and teach kids not every flying type is weak to Electric.

Ariados would be too early I think for that stage of the game. Yanma is a nice choice though. Put Butterfree or Beedrill instead.

Morty, remove Ghastly. Blame the lack of Ghost lines in these gens.

Whitney's team is improved. But I'd remove either Teddirua or Aipom.

Hitmontop being part of Chuck's team fits.

Jasmine, remove Magnemite

Pryce is pretty good actually.

Clair, as good as it can get honestly. Shame Mega Ampharos nor Alola Exeguttor were a thing then, oh well.

i think the cocoons have little to do with the bug catcher motif. especially when there's a bug catching contest coming up right up next and bugsy has so little to do with it. thankfully this was a bit corrected in hg/ss but still i think he could've had more interesting bugs other than the cocoons

I guess I can understand that. One could argue that focusing so much on Scyther helps get the player excited to catch one of their own, and much earlier than Scyther was ever catchable before.

I do think it'd be cool to have another Bug Catcher character focused on spidermons, given the net/webbing connection.

Looking back, as much as I like Morty, he should have been cut from the roster due to the lack of Ghost type families (only being 2 at that time)

considering Giovanni left, and Blue is a mixed type gym. They should have had a Ground gym in Johto.

Or make Morty a dark type trainer, give him a Houndoom as his main, plus Murkrow and/or Sneasal/Umbreon.

make Karen, Ghost, since Agatha got replaced, could make her Agatha's daughter.

Should still be 2 Pokemon if Scyther is the Ace. I know I'll probably get screamed at for being le casualization boogeyman but Yanma is pretty damn solid for this point in the game if you give it a decent enough moveset and it's still more difficult than vanilla Bugsy even with only 2 Pokemon

honestly keep Jumpluff on Ramos's team since it's a fully evolved mon and rather fast. Him having Phantump and Pumpkinboo is a good idea.

Korrina getting rid of Machoke for a Riolu is a good idea honestly, every fighting trainer uses one. another idea is give her Scraggy, Crogunk or either Sawk or Throh.

Relincath and Grant, fits perfectly and it is a one stage mon which works.

maybe remove Granbull from Valerie and giver her either Aromatisse or Slurpix or Carbrink.

Clemont having Dedene makes sense since in the anime Bonnie had one, though a part of me thinks Rotom could have been a good choice for his team.

Olympia having both Meowstics and Gothitelle work well.

Wulfric's team is a bit more challenging now. He seemed to easy for a last gym. Mamoswine could definitely fuck some shit up and Cloyster is a good counter to most fire types.

Viola is fine, Burmy never gets any use much like Surskit so it makes her bug team more unique in that regard.

Overall with some minor tweaking's this is actually near perfect.

Dude if your starter didn't evole in Union cave every play through, idk what you are doing wrong, maybe pkayibg it a little too safe? Avoiding battles? Nuzlocke is the only explanation. Ariados is one of my top 5 and even I can admit nobody should have much trouble with it. Did you win the battle the first time? No? Okay, back peddle, you have a legitimate challenge ahead of you. Gather yourself, maybe exit to heal train heal and come back. Not asking much, just defeating an obstacle with hard earned stats and a little forethought. We're obviously talking about a ROMhack here so if it was piss easy no one would play and no one would care
