Nothing wrong with that, they are just different. You may think Primarina's overdesigned, someone else may think Dewgong is way too simple. I think both are great.
With that said, I really don't think Primarina is overdesigned, since every element in its design has a purpose/origin and nothing is there without a reason.

Always thought they were bubbles, as they are used for Sparkling Aria's animation. Also the tcg art shows them with a bit of reflection and I think they are white/they blend together in the game because of hardware limitations and low resolution

Lobby's very different, yeah.
With forums, everything you say is pretty much set in stone so people are a lot more careful. In the Lobby, they just say what's on their mind and let it drown out or get into a fight.

I honestly would suggest just leaving the Main Lobby open, checking it every so often and seeing what they get up to. Good for a laugh and shows you that everything could always be worse.

This evening I've seen Primarina mentioned a few times in the UU chat and once in the Sun&Moon chat with no negativity whatsoever, in fact it was quite the opposite. I imagine it being much more chaotic during the release period, though.
On another note, why are people using Specs Sylveon in UU now? Isn't Primarina better in pretty much every possible way? Is it the new Dhelmise?

When Poplio was revealed I wanted to take him on my Alola adventure and I thought he would be a fun little circus seal clown buddy.

Now he's my least favorite starter in the entire series. It's not fair Bros. I still like Poplio a lot but I'd have to just never evolve him if I got one.

Unfortunately, there really aren't any good ones for Dewgong.
A combination of Toxic or Perish Song and Protect or Encore is pretty much your best bet though, maybe adding Fake Out to stall out already poisoned Pokemon and Ice Shard/Aqua Jet for picking off the lowest of health.
