My least favorite design of gen 7 . And not because it's "waifubait" which it really isn't, it's a seal for god's sake, but because it's just ugly. Ugly eyes, white on white eyelashes, "put hair on an animal so you know it's a girl" character design, pointless pink spikes, and the least appealing color scheme of its evolution line. Not to mention the cringy gender ratio.

They were definitely high when they designed this thing.

Also the thing is, when the three starters were shown off I knew popplio was bad news. I slowly warmed up to him because he was cute in a goofy way, then the evolutions were exposed. My god I never had such a 180 on how I feel about a pokemon until this point.


I knew that delphox finally had a rival for shittiest starter ever, and they were bringing their A-game.

Well, a big chunk of people use Primarina in UU. The Smogon community seems to really like it a lot, I always see people praise it when I use it or when it was used in SPL

It's just kind of "there" for me. I dislike the long, floppy arms rather than nubby flippers, but otherwise I have no real complaints or praise for the design. The line is something that reminds me more of a water route surfmon than a starter, but I like Spheal more in terms of seals/sea lion type animals.
