Do you love Hoenn?
>>
>>32154707
yes
>>
>>32154707
RS Meteor Falls had such an ugly color pallette.
>>
>>32154707
Yes, could've done with less Tentacool and Wingull though.
>>
>>32154707
Yes, actually. Way more places to explore than Alola and very vibrant.
>>
>>32154707
Yes. I'm going to FUCK Hoenn
>>
>>32154717
Nah it's not that bad I think it looks nice with the water, though Emerald's color palette is easily better. I'd take either over ORAS' piss colored rocks though.
>>
>>32154717
>>32154727
Does R/S and E have different color palletes (at least for Meteor Falls)? I played both games so many times and yet I never noticed that.
>>
>>32154725
Someone illustrate that; Anon fugging an entire region.

>>
>>32154755
I'd rather take the Emerald one since I'm used to Pokemon caves just being brown. Seeing it in 3D would've been awesome. It's really a shame I mean I unironically liked most of ORAS' overworld colors and Meteor Falls was easily one of the better modeled areas but they fucked up the interior's colors.

The only reason Sinnoh isn't the worst region in the series is because of Alola. Although to be honest the reason why the region is such fucking garbage has a lot to do with Defog and the fucking speed of the game itself.

>Hoenn Remakes come out in Gen 5
>get rushed even more for late 2011 so they can make B2W2 so Gen 5 ends before 2013 because Nintendo wants to see DS on its way out
>pretty much the same game except no Fairy/Megas and maybe some of the dungeons aren't gutted
>still don't get your Frontier, maybe rematches with some luck
>B2W2 loses some of its content to make up for development time spent on Hoenn Remakes
You're asking to be Monkey's Paw'd even harder than you already were. Don't kid yourself into believing Gen 5 was this time GF were based gods that could pump out 3 god tier games in 3 years when in reality they only pumped out 1 great one in that time. What would've really been better was if ORAS were released in 2015.

But Gen 6 was just overall trash because they didn't know what they were doing yet. Having it released earlier in the gen wouldn't help, it'd still be X and Y levels of barebones.

Here are some autistic opinions:

>Kanto
>urban and poison region
A poison type themed punk girl with dark colors and black hair.
>Johto
>traditional and the "autumn" region
A redhead, big breasts encased in a brown sweater
>Hoenn
>tropical and an adventure mood
Some kind of hyperactive, fit as fuck, tall ranger. Also delicious brown skin.
>Sinnoh
Obviously our winter girl. No idea beyond a nice coat.
>Unova
No idea, the region mixes too many themes.
>Kalos
Cute blonde with an uppity, spoiled, "city girl" type personality.
>Alola
The region feels more tropical than Hoenn but with less of the adventurous mood.
I'm thinking on holidays and relaxation, something along those lines.
>>
Hoenn is amazing. The only thing holding back the games is HMs.

Certain caves in the area actually do look kinda like that when they're lit up. Limestone deposits and all that.
https://youtu.be/zx7xBYe4P90

I liked the use of natural landmarks in pokemon games. Hoenn and alola seemed particularly keen in using them, which I liked.
Unova was nice in and of itself, but it was really adding a lot for the sake of it. I didn't dislike that, but I'm just saying. Sinnoh, Kanto, and Johto were nice, but I feel they focused more on the cities. The locations where they did use natural landmarks were great though. Kalos is a bit of a blur for me, but I loved the sea cliffs.
>>

Truly, R/S/E was a gen of those "THERE'S THIS HIDDEN SPOT IF YOU USE FLASH IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS CAVE THEN RUN AROUND THE OUTER EDGE *WITHOUT* TOUCHING ONE OR STOPPING THEN A LEGENDARY POPS OUT" playground rumors brought to life, I fucking love it. All the obsure places like that super out-of-the-way hidden area where you could find Jigglypuff but you'd never know it existed were really cool, too.

Anon you need to correct this immediately. I mean it, this is a matter of your health, we need to fix you before shit taste is permanently implanted in your brain and you think Gen 6/7 is how Pokémon is supposed to be. Go play FRLG right now, then HGSS, then Platinum, then the Unova games, in that order. Maybe switch Platinum and HGSS I don't know.
>>
What secret areas are there in Hoenn? I mean, besides Jigglypuff's and the sealed chamber, as well as some areas of meteor falls, I can't think of anywhere interesting.
Can you please tell me what you're talking about?
>>
>>32161991
Areas above the desert accesible by bike, the extra parts of the safari zone, the area above the waterfall on route 119, most of route 123, a lot of the more obscure parts of the water routes, shoal cave's ice part, etc.

There's a lot anon, you're just not looking past what you've seen on the thread.

Speaking of route 123, what is the appropriate moment in the game to take it? When is it meant to be taken? I used to go there I think before beating the magmas at Mount Pyre, but I started going there as part of my way from lylycove to slateport, so instead of flying I would go by land.

""""""""""Secret""""""""""

There're more secret areas in Unova and Sinnoh than in Hoenn. Most of those areas are just a good example of how the game encourages the exploration, they're not secret areas at all. I think Bagon's cave more secret than those you said.

>BW also had far more exploration and hidden areas
All it had were a couple times where you used Surf and found a couple things. Even SM for as little as it had managed to have a couple of those.
>Actual post game content and decent multiplayer shit.
It's something no one wants to really admit but BW is only about equal to ORAS in terms of postgame. A tower clone, E4 rematches, a couple extra areas and a legend hunt. Where ORAS fucks up with small islands, BW proceeds to make most of the new areas giant rectangular cliffs making them feel same-y with some exceptions. Before you bring up B2W2, this is about BW, not Gen 5 in general. Of course B2W2 blows both out of the water.
>150+ new pokemon
Was personally the only thing allowing me to tolerate BW
>Actual level design
Rarely, but when it did it did, I'll give you that.
>A national dex
Normally this would bother me, but BW literally copypasted every single National Dex entry from Platinum. Check for yourself
>Exp scaling with a means to bypass it
Turning on the broken Exp Share temporarily is pretty much the same thing. Though if you ask me both that and Audino farming were way too broken anyway.
>And a story where you didn't play second fiddle.
A story that is overrated to hell and back just like SM's is. I could go on and on about the issues with BW's plot if you want me to.

YES. Hoenn is my favorite region(RSE not ORAS, haven't played). It had a very unique atmosphere that persisted throughout the entire game, from the environments to the music to generation 3 pokemon themselves(LOVED Route 119's rain). Around that time, there was also the introduction of transferring pokemon to Pokemon Colosseum, which was a mind-blowing thing for me. It was all just the best experience possible for a pokemon game, and probably the one that I played the most growing up.
>>
Hoenn is the best region, so it belongs on the front page.
>>
>>32165150

There's a hidden area on route 115 where you can find Jigglypuff, the only place in the game you can. It's a brilliant place because there's a fake out "reward" for surfing before it in the shortcut back to meteor falls, nobody would ever think to go beyond it.

>Post YFW you realized a single building in RSE's Hoenn has more puzzles and better level design than its ORAS's counterpart and the entire Alola region
>>
>>32172559
Nah, ORAS is better overall. ORAS allows you to design your own Gym, or your own Trick Hoise, at will. Much better.

its some good nostalgia, I highly recommend to check it out. there is also a kanto playlist, if you are into that.

Yeah, really. The berrymaster route is super fucking neat, I like how there's a big hidden chunk of it only accessible if you surf past mt. pyre.

The dumbing down of Pokemon games is real
>>
>>32172590
not like puzzles brought them much higher anyway
>>
>>32172585
And really, this is the kind of shit that Pokémon lacks after BW2. No interconnectivity or a feeling that makes you feel intelligent for doing something you're not asked to do. Nowadays it's just do what everyone else is doing, and then get a longer, meaningless cutscene with each new game.

YESH. I love it. Best region. I love almost all gen 3 pokemon. The region disign is great. I love the continent being split in 2 aspect. I love surfing and water. Emereld was even better with that post game. Plus it has the best artstyle of any pokemon game. Gen 3 artstyle is great in general but the artstyle of hoen is just so good.

I wanna go back to the early days of playing Pokemon without a care in the world. Exploring new areas like Meteor Falls. I just don't have that fun with Pokemon anymore.

Fuck, right? GF isn't helping with the lack of explorability of the regions nowadays. In Alola, there were two areas you could explore that you wouldn't come across in normal gameplay, and one of those was the route to the other in that cave to Kala'e bay and Kala'e bay. I want a game with more stuff like Route 115, Berrymaster's route, Hoenn's Safari Zone and Mt. Moon's Square. Super neat stuff you stumble upon by looking for it. Stuff like Lapras only appearing on Friday night would be really neat to have back, too.
>>
>>32172570
ORAS would've been much better if gen 6's casualized approach to vidya hadn't infected it.
>>
>>32172853
ORAS wasn´t much affected by GF´s new casualized approach, maybe because it is a remake.

It is clearly not casualized like XY and SM, especially in terms of leayout, explorability, etc.

ORAS being casualized is a buzzword and a meme generated by the fact it was made between 2 casualized games like XY and SM.

gen 5 water trumpets remake
my pants just got tighter for some reason
>>
Are there any emulators that can smoothly run ORAS?
>>
>>32172735
There was atleast the bay you mentioned, then the Ten Carat Hill, Malie Garden to some extent, the route when going down Mount Hokulani, Haina Desert, Poni Meadow and Resolution Cave
>>
>>32172969
just buy the originals save yourself the disappointment
>>
>>32173009
You'd go to poni meadow anyhow if you wanted to get to the battle tree. You go to Ten Carat Hill during the story, same with Malie and Hokulani's route (You mean the one with the Minior, right?). You have to go into Resolution Cave for the UB mission, also, Haina desert is the only one I can really give you, it's easy as fuck to miss and there are no major events there/it doesn't lead to anywhere the story points you.
>>
>>32173109
>You'd go to poni meadow anyhow if you wanted to get to the battle tree.
Not true, you go through the beach.
>You go to Ten Carat Hill during the story
I sure as fuck didn't though?
>same with Malie and Hokulani's route (You mean the one with the Minior, right?)
Yes, but neither of those are forced to be fully explored and purely optional.
>You have to go into Resolution Cave for the UB mission
So? I thought we were talking about the main story here.
Or by that logic couldn't you say the same about any cave that has legendaries?

>ORAS was made in Gen V

>no Soaring added
>no Mirage Spots added
>No Super Training minigames to port from XY
>No Pokemon Amie to port from XY
>NO DEX NAV ADDED!

No, thanks.ORAS is very good as it is. In Gen VI.

I actually have been playing emerald over the weekend. The internal battery is dead, but I still managed to get enough berries to evolve feebas.
>>
>>32173354
I thought emerald was the game where internal batteries stopped being a thing

I miss Emerald's Battle Frontier so goddamn much.
>>
>>32173393
It no longer is unplayable with a dead battery. But time stops moving for events like berries.
>>
>>32173637
Then play it? It's not like all the previous games are unavailable to you.
>>
Unpopular opinion: ORAS was real good but the lack of frontier made /vp/ too mad to ever acknowledge this

>ORAS allows you to design your own Gym, or your own Trick Hoise, at will.
You could place a few mats with predefined functions into a few predefined base layouts.

Comparing that to making a custom Gym is like comparing Mario Maker to a ROMhack of a Mario game. You can't even define the teams for your "grunts" or force the player to battle them at all when they enter your Gym, they always use randomized 'mons from a short list of randomized 'mons.
>>
>>32173233
I'd gladly give up all that worthless shit (except Dexnav, Dexnav is actually great, though I'd give that up too) if the hypothetical Gen V Hoenn didn't ignore Emerald like a redheaded stepchild.
