Before gen 7 came out there was a distinct push for him as the "cool" Grass starter. He's the only Grass type in Pokken, he was Ash's rival's ace in XYZ (though he never won a single on-screen battle AFAIK) and he was Brendan's starter in the Origins shorts. Much less shilling than the guys in the OP image, but still a bit of push. Depending on how Decidueye takes off he may remain in the position of Grass' Charizard until they can come up with something that really makes the kid appeal lightning strike, or fade into the background as the owl takes center stage.
