There are, I have 2 irl female friends who play Pokémon. One is not even that casual, it's one of her favorite series. Most of what she does is shiny hunting though.

I know ONE male pokemon player personally desu and I have like 10 friends who play pokemon. He's the most casual and doesn't even own any of the games and plays on his gf's cartridge.
We do play, but we don't compete, maybe that's why you don't know any? Most of the people I met on boards and forums dedicated to helping people 100% a living dex are female, so
