It's hard to believe this late in the animes history they actually made a canon Ash ship. Prior to Serena, you had the Pokeshippers still clinging to Misty, or the people who shipped Ash with Dawn in DP. But now there's an actual real canon ship.

I'm just thankful it isn't Pokeshipping. After all these years, if they had the satisfaction of Misty being with Ash after their trolling/bashing May, Dawn, and the anime in general for years after Misty left, we never would have lived it down.

Honestly they did a lot of similar parallels with Ash and Dawn in DP too, to the point where Dawn's first episode mirrors Ash's first episode. Just swap the Spearow for Ariados, and Ho-oh for Mesperit.Pokemon has done well with parallels for a long time.
