Hacks are pretty much nonexistent due to the fragile nature of PMD's coding, unfortunately.

You can't edit the starter roster itself (as far as I'm aware), but you can edit the player into whatever mon you want with a save editor

not that anon, but from what we know, the coding in the PMD is really complicated, to the point where if you wanted to make a hackroom of the PMD games, you're better off making the game from scratches than trying to hack any of them.
So far the only thing we can do is to change the MC and partner for others pokemon, but those pokemon will be missing portraits and animations, so it will get really awkward.
