The fire isn't always out.
This wasn't an issue in the gen II games, but I always thought it looked boring as shit and awkward without the flames. Why not just keep them there permanently?

I now realize why the designs became so shit. When they had to display the pokemon with like 100x200 pixels, even less in the battle screen, they were forced to keep the designs simple.

Now that they have so many pixels to work with, they can overdesign to high hell.
