It has some good moves but monotype is particular. In this format, the most important is to have coverage to hit your weaknesses, which are many in monobug. This is why I have two spinners. Volcarona needs HP Ground to beat Heatran which would otherwise ruin it's sweep. Heracross is coverage-man and already has a powerful stab in CC. X-scissor is useless on Armaldo. Galvantula needs two electric moves. I used Bug Bite a lot on Scizor actually, bit I basically always switched between that and Knock Off on it.
Basically you have too many threats to cover to afford to use a weak stab, especially when you have another better one. And multiple bug moves is useless. You'll see that paradox a lot in monotype teams: all the same type but few stab attacks in common. Except for Fighting or Water.

I personally like Swords Dance/Megahorn/Poison Jab/Earthquake. Most people prefer Baton Pass, though.

Most use it as only BP mon but it can do well for itself.

For STAB megahorn are your best options. For coverage earthquake is good in case of steel types. The last slot usually should be protect for free speed boosts and scouting but if you want to be risky you can try doing another coverage move, maybe rock slide for flying coverage.

I used same set but I use baton pass over protect, and when I want both I just drop megahorn, ground and poison offer more coverage if I insist on BP and Protect

It's fun, protect a turn and get a boost, get a KO and get another boost then pass it on to another mon

It's up to your personal preference but but as long as you use four of those five moves you aren't doing anything wrong

I haven't tried it out in testing yet since I've been using a sitrus vika but from my calcs specs vikavolt OHKOs anything with an electric weakness with about 128 SpA and modest nature if I remember right? Was somewhere around there. There's not many things that oneshot celesteela and fini, I'll have to retest just for maximum bulk on both ends but it's hilarious to me at how many people underestimate the bug.
The set I have now makes rock slide a 5hko after sitrus, for example, lives a fire fang from chomp as well just fine alongside +1 moonblast from calm mind fini, just to name a few things. And yeah, mostly Lucanidae and Dynastinae. The biggest we get here is the eastern Hercules, but it's pretty impressive - and strong if you ever get the chance to play with one.

We have plenty of tiger beetles here too. They're fast little buggers. One clamped on my finger hard enough to draw blood once. My nephews thought that was hilarious.

I'm raising a Beedrill right now in Crystal - as in I'm putting serious effort into using her instead of just being temporary filler.

I'm pleasantly surprised with how well it's going, I never gave Bugs much thought, but I suppose I should reconsider now.

Scolipede is my all time favourite Bug type, but Metroid spider is awesome too. I really like Yanmega as well, but I wish it was more available in the games. I want to use Volcarona in a run some day, but have never had chance to.

Oh, and Vivillon. People shit on it for being the only Gen 6 Bug type line, but it's actually pretty good ingame.

Bug is consistently good for designs, especially recently.
