Volcarona

Fire/Bug is a real interesting typing and I liked that in gen 5 they gave you an egg for it. It takes work to train the sucker but its well worth the effort put into it.

was my bro at gen1. always loved it since.
it also channel a 'hikikimori' vibe, and as a person who wish he could st in the room all day with shrooms growing out of his body, id really feel it personofize my ideals.

it is also reltaivly small yet quite fitting to be called 'monster'

and i also prefer grimdark mons over cutesy ones.

beedrill was the reason i had a crush on bug type, but parasect is the reason i still like it.

i totally fell in love with necrozma when the first pokemon refresh video of it and the ubs was posted. couldn't tell you why really.
but my current answer is: i fucking love his design, everything from the way he moves in 3d to the way the shapes are arranged on his face (especially, that's just so fucking cool and creative to me).
i love the way the animators can have him express so much emotion just through body language even though his body is one solid mass and his face is immovable. he doesn't even have a neck or eyelids to blink but it's super obvious when it's angry or happy or whatever. that's so fucking great.
and i really want to learn more about him. what is it, what is it supposed to be, why did it do what it did? what is its role in the story?

sorry, i kind of rambled. i haven't felt this strongly positive about a pokemon in a long time.

tl;dr very cool design and intriguing backstory.

Shuckle, used to be #2 with poliwhirl as #1.

As a child I absolutely adored turtles, they were my favorite animals. You would think I would like squirtle then but I thought they didn't do turtles justice, they acted nothing like them. Then comes shuckle. It was on four legs, had ahard shell, was slow but high defenses, and did little else then laze around. Naturally I loved it. Later on of course I see that shuckle is more of a scale insect then anything but honestly that makes me love it more. I love how indescribable it is. It's simply shuckle, and I love that. I could write an essay probably on why I love it but I'll leave it at this, I find shuckle to be the most clever, intetesting, and funniest concept and design in the series.

Typhlosion all the way.

Not only is Cyndaquil best starter, but Typhlosion kicks ass.

Stats are great, burns through Gyms easily, can learn ELECTRIC TYPE MOVES, has good speed, learns most HMs even though you're never gonna teach it one anyway, and is all around a really good Pokémon to use.

Swanna for having a clear and concise design that conveys everything it needs to from what it is to its personality the moment you see it. A complex design is always great for learning new things about it as time goes on but a simple design just works out so much stronger for me as it's never really going to change - I know exactly who and what my swan is and he's never going to change.
