I've been hunter 3 hours minimum everyday since Monday on 3 3ds, and have yet to have a shiny encounter. SOS in Moon with charm, horde encounters in Alpha Sapphire with charm, and friend safari in X. Somebody end my suffering.

Fucking hell, i dont even have 5000 hatched total, usually hunt with other methods. Maybe wait for the global event to start hatching again? At least that way you'll get a reward, even if you dont get the shiny. Otherwise i'd just say to run around in the Friend Safari, that's a pretty low effort way to hunt.

The shiny rate is highest between 70 encounters and 255 encounters. Go past 255 and the increased rate RESETS, along with the higher HA chance and higher IVs

I think it really depends on ow you want to use it. its more challenging to get a mon with the right nature through SoS, also it´ll lack Egg moves, so its mostly not that good if yyou want to use it online.

then again, it can be really faster if you have luck, and you can decide the ball on the go.

i use Masuda, since i either want to use them as comp mons i have to ride the bull.
Also, you can only chain a couple of mons thanks for the limited mons that are native to alola.

So i think the chances are less important than the way you want to use it.
Still, MM should be 1/512 or something, dont remember correctly.

I was going to go for my shouldermon Chinchou (never going to be lanturn) but can't find the chart.

What do you guys mean by 'resetting the seed' when doing the magikarp swap trick?

From what I understand, Sun and Moon generate the RNG for egg generation via a random string of numbers when you deposit Pokemon in to breed, and this number can be preserved as long as similar variables are kept. With swap breeding, the seed gets reset through things like removing the Pokemon that was holding the Destiny Knot, adding a Destiny Knot if it wasn't already there, putting a genderless Pokemon in, or even getting the Shiny Charm if you didn't already have it. To clarify, with computer random numbers, the number isn't really random, which is why seed sharing in games like Minecraft and Factorio are a thing. If you have world seeds for either of those games and all the other variables match, you can play the same exact world someone else is playing.

Fuck, I didn't know this. Guess I'll never know how close I was with Cutiefly originally.
I kept breeding until one has near perfect stats and replace it with the previous one and give it the Destiny Knot. I don't have a spare 6IV Ditto since I'm using one on my other game
