Though I do love magneton and mawile too, steel is pretty high quality in terms of designs. Nothing bad in that picture at all. Thanks for the pic, love that style.

Never got the hate for magneton, everyone calls it lazy. Magnemite is already so perfect that puttting three together looks great.

I get why it's grass/ghost but being my favorite alola mon I am a little dissapointed that it wasn't ghost/steel with a grass STAB ability. Would be way better in battle. Still I adore the spooky seaweed anchor, one of my all time favorite pokemon.

Metagross is my other steelbro. Slap an Assault Vest and a Calm/SP.Def. boosting nature on it and you have one hell of a special tank.

Nah, it's haunted seaweed possessing the shipwreck. The actual creature in question is the seaweed, grass/ghost makes complete sense. It's just that from a viability standpoint the ghost/steel combination is better. My hope is that the grass typing allows it to get synthesis at some point.

Maybe it's just me but does anyone else find it interesting we have a whole five bug/steel types? To me it feels like such a unlikely combination, bug being very organic and living while steel is more man mad and robotic. Love all of them just interesting to me.

I mean, it helps that insects tend to be like robots. Both have hard exoskeletons, some have weapons (e.g. beetle horns), and some use hydraulics for movement (i.e. spiders).

It's a powerful design is why. I've personally always disliked it but to deny it being successful or to claim it's a bad design is just foolish.
It's the same with any controversial Pokemon - they all have such strong designs that it's hard to put them aside, most people are gonna have strong feelings on them one way or another. The starters, legendaries and pseudos all fit to this because they're so important and therefore have the most amount of effort and care put into their designs, resulting in their dominant designs.

I think a big part of it is simply a backlash against how much attention and special treatment Lucario's been given thus far. It was added to Smash Bros, you're given one as a gift in XY (and you're forced to use it in a story battle), it's depicted in a giant statue in the Tower of Mastery, it was apparently the first Pokemon to ever Mega Evolve (excluding Mega Rayquaza, which was a special case), one of them was the best explorer in the world in PMD (and the highest rank in the game is called "Lucario Rank"), it got a leading role in that one movie... that sort of stuff.
